ya. i observed that there is this worrying trend of the parliament increasing the president's pay.
shortly after, there would be this report in the newspaper reporting that "Recently, the President has approve a bill put forth by the Parliament to increase ministerial pay/ civil servant's pay etc, to increase competitiveness with the private sector"
"our civil servants (mainly refering to the ministers) are underpaid, as compared to industry leaders in other fields (followed by comparison with top 10% income earners of lawyers, engineers and other big bosses of their firms)"
this trend is worrying, if not sickening....
i think the trend is president increase MPs pay then MPs increase president pay then president increase MPs pay again then ................................. in an infinite loop
President is their own gang
The next president will be Tony Tan
want to be rich? be a Member of Paraman
his pay is ludicrous given the ceremonial role the president is playing.
wiki - " After the war, whilst working, he completed his secondary education through self-study, and entered the University of Malaya (then in Singapore) where he graduated in 1954 with a Diploma in Social Studies (DistinctionChinese Schools, such as the Rangoon Road Afternoon School, and later Victoria School. "
Also how about a female president for a change and let the people decide/ vote please
