Hello ,
2 lapses were found when I was just simply browsing through yesterday's and today's (friday) newspapers :
1. Thurday , F.Y.I section, pg23, Global Brand Forum advertisement (quarter page ad) :
ERROR : "Joanne Ooi Marketing and Creative Director of .... as she shares his insights on maverick approaches to brand building at the world's most anticipated brand forum" <-- how can this be a logically sound statement?
2. Friday , Life! section, pg 3, article titled 'True teen models' :
ERROR : "She is learning ballet at a top Australian school and he has takan part in the Harvard University Model UN. Both are poised to make their mark" <--- what does 'takan' mean?
I am dismayed by the lapses. These basic and fundamental typo errors should have been detected and corrected before sending for mass printing.
I hope such mistakes will not become a habit.
What to do?
Its happened.
Lets close ranks
and move on ?
yup, I think I shall move on... to the next section of the newspaper.
bravo! u answered ur own qn.
there was this ah peh on tv interview tt time which said his pastime everyday is to pick out the typos and wrong words in papers everyday.
he said the average is 15 per day.
the newspaper just dun use wordcheck ...
even microsoft words has got spellcheck...how is it even possible to make any spelling mistakes unless you're still using paper and pen?

Yup, that should be the focus.
Fundamental errors has no place in a 'world class' newspaper.
Its credibility might be affected.
In 1st world singapore, we expect 1st world newspaper.
Anything less is not 1st world, to me. I use my money to pay and pay ok? hee hee.
oh wow. im so happy for u.
but to me, it just the papers.
