Merrill compensates Temasek US$2.5 billion for drop in share
price. So,it is genius for Temasek, share price up,it will gain.
Share price drops,it will be compensated!!
Will u all guys pl be more professional in discussion.
Dunt just copy and paste without digestion.
Temasek is not so stupid just to buy shares blindly and becomes
Merrill's largest shareholder.
When Temasek bought US$5 b shares sometimes back ,
there was a capital protection provision
that if Merrill issue share later at price lower than what Temasek
bought,Merrill has to compensate Temasek fully.
Now Merrill compensates Temasek US$2.5 b,
though Temasek uses all 2.5 b to buy new issued shares.
UBS and CITI deals are just creditors--no loss yet
The up or down of UBS and CITI shares are not affecting Temasek
interest to be collected from these 2 giants,
unless they go bust.
I think our learned forumers here know what is creditor!!
Up to today,Temasek are just lenders ,BUT NOT SHARE HOLDERS
OF UBS and CITI.The reasons are many, among them
is Temasek dunt know the full picture of subprime.
But it is a once in few decades chance to get a big share in big and great
companies.
Temasek is vey cautious in UBS and CITI deals by becoming just a lender,
but not a share holder.
Previoulsy, it is suprised to me that Temasek bought
Merrill share without protections.
The truths are it incorporates price protection and ,i read
from other news, that Temasek get dilutions protections also.

Can someone please tell me if a Sole Proprietor company has shares?
Can someone please tell me if rising inflation will create more havoc to financial institution in USA?
Can someone please tell me if Temasek make money from the recent disposal of Indosat?
Can someone tell me if the petrol price in Japan and Korea is S$1.43 and S$1.50 respectively?

I thought one month back, LKY was telling us that there will be no downturn for Singapore.
One month only the words got changed to something else, either they have lousy forecasting methods or somebody is senile.
No matter what, we should still be prepared for a downturn even if the economy is doing very well. This is in Mandarin ju an si wei
Btw, how come Gazelle suddenly pop up in this thread with totally irrelevant content that already has their own threads?

=================================
Sometime this year, LKY did mention that US economy will not affect Singapore. Last year or beginning of this year PAP, LKY spoke about golden period for Singapore. I have not been successful in retrieving these articles online, if anyone has the articles, would appreciate it if you can post it here.
One person in Pay and Pay was rather accurate, Dr Tony Tan. He did mention about recession/economy.
What happen to the old man, he is getting more and more absurd, has his senility reached its peak? Or is he misleading Singaporeans?
This is a global problems, in fact USA is in recession, all economy indicator shown a slow down in all countries and sectors, however our govt should be able to ride the tide as they still have lots of reserve, i believe the next 2 years will be all downhill, but it is a norm in economy cyclical trend, nothing can go up forever, its need to go down to recuperate and bounce back.
What is critical here is who can withstand this downturn and see it thru without much problems, i believe singapore can do it again as they have shown so much in the past that they can do it.
This is where singapore stand out among some countries.
