The SAF personnel came to my school to give talk to the Pre-university boys which are gonna enlist into NS soon. The talk is about how BMT training is like.. march 32km.. "Dig your own grave",Night time pasar malam etc etc...while during the talk, the PRC students fell asleep...........
Just feeling dam sad lah...Just got some questions...
1.) We Singapore boys gotta go through that list to items in NS training to while the PRC students come here and get subsidized education via OUR OWN SINGAPOREAN S TAXPAYER money, snatching our universities places while we go for NS.
2.After graduate, they go into job market again snatching our rice bowl....
3.) although 20% of university places are reserved for foreigners.. that means that the 80% will be left to Singaporeans?? i got a PRC classmate came here as a foreigner and keep on renewing her permit until now she is a citizen... She can apply for university as a SINGAPORE CITIZEN.. then with a population of 500,000 PRCs in Singapore, how many of the 80% university seats are actually meant for the locals....
4.) SAF ppl mentioned about manpower shortage and mention about possibility of enlisting female into NS... how can we bear to let our dear ones enlist into NS..
While we singaporeans are enlisting to NS to defend the island of singapore so the PRCs can continue reaping off our hardwork for the nation, and in time of crisis they can just packed their bags leave for better developed countries with their degrees earned via our taxpayers money?
i really respect those very few true talents like some asean scholarship holder ive seen. But too many of the PRCs migrated into singapore are just ....
HuH!?
this is just sad news. Anyway, do PRC male students have to enlist?
think of it another way, w/o e 2 yrs of NS which partly gave a peaceful and stable Singapore would all these foreigners come?
as for uni admission, I dare say there are locals who did not make e cut to go to JC aft O levels eventually made it through their polytechnic results... matter more is are you putting in effort for it, else I myself dun mind give e chance to others or foreigners
and issue about the SAF personnel talking about our country's "defence" with 3g military equipments empahsizing alot on their aquisition of their apaches..
But With 500,000 PRCS in singapore ,that is like whole lot more than our ground forces, air force, navy, police force, civil defence force COMBINED,which totals 300,000...
Huh!?
half a mil PRCs meh...
i can tell u one thing, The PRC will better apprciate their China government after they have spent some tine here. A PRC told me, that. after she came to singapore, PRC gorverment seems so much better to her.
and seriously foreigners will cry if they go to NS. We singaporeans are defintely more stronger minded than them.
this is psychology, when some foreigner comes to singapore, he or she finds that its not rosy as they first thought it was. So psychology will tell u is just go back to their own country after earning some money and be with their loved ones. 2 things advantages they are getting = money + reunite with family after their brief stint in singapore. So in this situation, they are mch better off than they have never left their country.
I am really sorry that our govt has been taken in for a ride.
Its not only "to each his own" but then, its more of a point of getting used to your surroundings.

its not easy to make it with polytechnic results. Because only 20 % places for all 5 plotechnics and yr chances are good to zero. Unless u are a brilliant student in polytechnic. If thats the case u wouldnt have gone polytechnic anyway.
well I wun make long comments abt them but put it this way
at least they can casually talk abt e gahmen here, if it's in PRC you might end up tortured in death in dunno where

national education. we suppose to attend the talk to complete the module.
he asked " why does the army wear green when there's no jungle in singapore and all buildings around."
a simple "innocent" question. he ord-ed anyway..
If foreign talent need to do NS, they most probably won't come here to study.
Same like Singaporeans migrating to Australia and US. Think about this?
Just like males need to do NS and females do not need to?
Anyway, the world is unfair. No choice.

Because we won't fight in Singapore.
And SAF don't wear uniform if we really have to fight in Singapore

its an open secret that tim huxley wrote in the book 'defending the lion city' somewhere in year 2000 that we use the forward defence strategy... our borders r still defenced by he believed is 2PDF. then the 21RDF [21 rapid deployment force] like guards units will cheong behind the enemy line and set up a line of barrier defence, then cheong down geographically towards singapore, somewhat creating a circle where the enemy force cut off of their supplies.
air force defence with its multi-umbrella throng strategy as seen in its defence watch video years back. .e.g surface to air missiles...
navy protects the sea lines of communications.
?SIR protects key installations like jurong island, airports...
with direct foreign investment $$, properties and everything, how u want to fight here? rebuilding the island and the economy will be a repeat of what ur parents, grandparents do again since WW2.

pts 1/2) those under subsidy should have to do a bond for some years. those take tuition fee govt subsidy must work here for the years studied as a form of payback in terms of time period.
pts 3/4) racial status quo for political issue.
good educated women = SG govt wants... y? birth rate... n not all foreigners r that bright anyway... u guarantor for them to study till varsity level at national schools? most r here on private schools...
and y so sure of the number? u work for ICA? some r here for jobs that less n less singaporeans wants to take anyway... being picky/long hrs/shift work like waiter/waitress/cook/chef/cleaners/janitors/construction workers/shipyards welders...etc.
most singaporeans want 5days week, 8-5, air-con, office or semi-mobile workers anyway.
and i would love to have girls serve their NS, even for 1 year i also happy, in admin/ non-combat roles at rear areas like HQ levels/base camp...etc.
there r other races from other countries though minority r also counted as foreign talents to SG... u r too biased towards PRC... we SBC singapore born chinese r either from direct china last time or the baba/nonya from malaya. so we r emigrants too, so to speak...

Why give them subsidy anyway? if they are rich ok, come... If nt then... well... If they are that good, u tink they will come Singapore? I suggest stop throwing money on a lost cause.

Hmmmm... debatable.. I for one dun mind field work.

But our emigrants ancestors has put in their blood and sweat to make Singapore as it is now... Not say i want to say, but alot of these PRC are here to pull a quick one, then get on with life back home or elsewhere. They are smart

We fight in blu lala-land

then how do we know who is the enemy? our own?
So sad that guys are thinking of such things even before they enter the army.
I hear they feel way much worse when they finish their 2 year stint and come out to study or work. ![]()
why are we importing so many foreign talents and peasants ? ...
it's very telling I think, if we recall that our living god actually believes in eugenics ... remember him calling for graduate mothers to give birth to more kids, yonks ago ? ... so we can elevate the national mean IQ a little ? ... ![]()
and how he mentioned in his memiors that he told, was it "small peace" deng, that whatever Singapore has done, china can do better, cos we were descended from peasant stock, while china retained her cadre of intelligentsia ?
so you see .... there'll always be this suspicion that we are simply not good enough, not smart enough ..... ![]()
