Not all the about 40,000 babies born here are eligible
for the little red book!!
can u tell him?
So if we take away the foreigner component and look at our domestic fertility rate objectively.
Our actual, domestic fertility rate (by local born mother and local born father) should would .59 * 1.29. Which is 0.7611.

yeah..it doesn't matter if only 59% of babies are born by singaporean. Its the number born by Singaporeans that matter.
It does matter in the sense that local born Singaporeans have been replacing themselves at a rate that is far more alarming than previously thought.

Dear lion
59% Born by singaporean
0.59*39,490=23,299 babies born by both Singapore parents.
[23,299 new babies + 15,000 new citizens - 1,000 “give up citizenship” - 17,140 deaths = Total: 20,159]
This amount does sounds very nice iznt it.. tallying with the govenment figure perfectly...
But that is assuming that those 41% whose child are born in singapore and parents are made of one singaporean, fail to register their child as Singaporean, yes not even one of them register their child as Singaporean... Surely that is not possible...
After all, you can assume that if u have a malaysian, chinese wives, you will want your child to be a singaporean too.
And these child are born in Singapore, if they are not willing to let the child take up citizenship, they will probably have their child born elsewhere.
So yes. Lionnoisy u are right, the figures by Zse Hian did not put this factor into consideration, but even after that, the discrepancies are too large to be explained away by this factor alone.
Statistics... You are jus given what they want you to know... how they manipulate the data, do they manipulate the data? We may not know...
But what we can know is, we have a problem here in Singapore, that is citizens here are unwilling to procreate.
And why is this so? the answer is blowing in the wind.....

If Singaporean marry a foreigner.. and give birth in Singapore.
Dotter will become a Singaporean.
Son will become a PR.
Simple as that.
