Many years ago in tis forum, there is a different type of debate. It is about the malays complaining about the chinese. The Malays say the chinese "spoil the market" , they cannot compete with them, asking for help to deal with the problem saying they r the native of the land. Do u know how does the chinese singaporean reponse ? They literally say "f^%k u" and go back and work harder and blame them for being "lazy" and supporting anti competition and unfairness.
Now the retribution had come. People r complaining like the malay do in the past. It is strange how people's point of view change dramatically when they r at the different end of the stick
OMG, the only word I can use to describe how off course you have gone is.....MASSIVE.
Malays have an inherent laziness. Look at Indonesia. Malays came from Indonesia, haven't they?
Chinese? Nope. This is hardly retribution if you even understand what it means.
Well, now singapore is indeed one of the richest nation in the world with a high rate of growth and quality of living.
If u wanna compare an analogy, it is like your parents r one of the richest in the kampung and u hate your parents because they bought a spoiled television before.

People r complaining because they r losing out the competition and felt marginalised. Both side (malays and local chinese) wanted external help to facilitate anti competition and unfairness without realising the problem of a globalised world. I felt tis is retribution in a certain way

I believe most young singaporeans, their gripes are more than this. The magic word - Democracy. Look at the lack of accountability in our losses by Temasek and GIC. Look at the media near-blackout.
Globalised world as it is...why is our GINI coefficient widening more than any other first world nation?
I'm all for a better Singapore. Having said that, I do not feel ungratuitious towards Lau Lee and gang.

While, but you must understand that democracy may not equates to prosperity. Sometimes, i find that its better to let the sleeping dog lie.

Our government are the better lot compared to the other governments in our surrounding countries.
Do remember Singapore do not have any natural resources, rubber plantations not included.
You trying to say other government like Obama, bush, Addullah sux la. Just spell out. But i feel Bush is better than LKY 100 times.
Originally posted by parn:Well, first of all if you hate LKY then you should go and tell him straight to the face and not be a KING OF COWARDS and come here to tell me off.
COWARDS like you should simply go and die, go to hell. You don't even deserves to own an opinion in the first place cos you were already biased from the beginning.
Secondly, ARE Lim Chin Siong, Ong Teng Cheong, and all those causeway motorists related to you? IF not, then it's also not your business to bring them out for your quarrels. In fact, people like you aren't even qualified to quote them cos they don't even KNOW you. So don't talk like people knows you when you're just a nobody, acting like somebody is only going to end up making a fool out of yourself.
There is a reason why there wasn't a re-election in Bukit Batok, and you should get out of your chair once in a while to find out the reason. Nobody will feed you with answers if you do not have the desire to seek them out yourselves.
Not happy about our current democracy? Then why don't you get yourselves born earlier???
I think I know what's your problem here, your parents failed to mate and that's why you were unable to born earlier?
Why don't you hate your parents then? Should I go start a thread to talk about it?
IF you're not happy with the way this country is run, then why are you still residing in Singapore?
No place to run away to and yet still dare to talk so much about your Motherland, as a citizen of Singapore, Do you even have any shame for yourself? Do you even know shame?
And if you so don't like this place and unable to run away to another place, why don't you go kill yourself?
You can't, cos you're just a coward....a KING OF COWARDS.

I refering to facts and not like you.I din 1 2 quarrel. If you so selffish, you should emgirate. You do not care for fellow mates. I just surfacing out the problems to keep people aware. Cos your perfect government is doing a good job.
Anyway, Please do not flame my blogger in my post. You start to shoot at my blogger. If you want to shoot. start your own thread. DUN COME HERE

Liberal democracy is over rated. I find more countries having problem with it then benefitting from it and they do not form good governance. If u talk about media blackout, then I agree with u tat such problems should be surfaced. However liberal democracy is not the way.

any statistic of website for me to see ?

Perhaps u may have been over exposed to the US, Taiwanese and South Korean style of democracy. Look at those of Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Luxembourg for example. People are happy there. There was a world happiness index done on nations around the world. Chk that out.
As for Gini coefficient, do a search on wiki pls. And pls look up singstats.gov.sg and see how our middle income class has stagnated the past ten years while the rich become richer. Compare that with other first world nations round the world. Even the US, with all its recession woes, does not fare any poorer than Sg.
Sorry I'm lazy to dig everything up.

Yes credit to the govt on our level of English. Oh but what was I talking abt? Creativity and rote learning.
Missing the point eh?
Since you're so lazy to use your brain to think further, and expects me to spoon-feed you...here goes....
There are good foreigners and bad ones, similar to our human resources among Singaporeans. Can you say all Singaporeans are good employees and talents? You can't cos you know that there are some good employees/talents and plenty of bad, lazy, helpless, useless, expects to be spoon-fed and treated like a talent when they're not.
Creativity and role learning depends on your own abilities, and you can't learn creativity. However, you can copy and improvise by learning from others' creativity in certain aspects of your work....we called that "experience" don't we?
Ultimately it all boils down to your own individual abilities as a person in Singapore.
IT's funny reading so many Singaporeans' complaining that they aren't spoon-fed sufficiently by the government and their educational system. And it seems that they have regarded those spoon-feeding as a normal, and guess what? Nope, it's not a normal, and it's a benefits for you being born and brought up in Singapore. Such behaviour is truly childish, like a child upset because he did not get the toy that he wanted or he felt that he deserved.
And why do I feel that Singaporeans such as yourselves aren't able to survive outside Singapore on the world stage? It's because you are too dependable on the very government that you hated.
Are you sure you are hating the correct target?

Could you have thought of a better topic?
This is Speaker's Corner, and it's a forum, so what makes you think you can ask me to siam?
People like yourself who have no righteousness in your heart should just go and die and don't shame your parents any further.
If you cannot take a neutral stance, why bother to come up and post your biased opinions here?
And if you are unable to hold onto your own arguments, then I suggest you go and re-educate yourself again....as you have failed the education system. Not my problem if you're incapable.
Ohh...I would like to see how you can make me siam. Suggest you to put a "please" in front of your sentence to begin with ok?

Let me see.. Probably I have been over exposed to thailand, indonesia, phillipines, japan, south korea, USA, Taiwan, India, Italy, Parkistan, France, british, iraq, afghanistan and even probably malaysia. I mean, it seems to me tat there r more negative examples than positive. I don't know about denmark etc and maybe they have problems too. Is just tat I don't know.

I still feel u should give me the statistic here because I don;t really find statistic tat show other countries r having a good time on Gini.

I agree. People think they know alot, this generation of youths can ruin singapore in years.
You cant expect a leader to come from a typical teen who watches movie, come sgforum, play dota, sell part time ice cream.
Malays are doing worst.

Is it that hard for you to even find this on wiki?
In the United Nations Development Programme Report 2004, (page 50-53), Singapore's Gini coefficient based on income is 0.425 in 1998, which is ranked 78 among 127 countries in income equality.

The current education system in schools are spoon-feeding students even more than before.

"NUS graduate", so what?
Today’s younger generation does not understand all this? Don't tell me god has forgotten to grow brains in them. Some people just want to hold on to power, therefore telling people they don't understand this or that, there is no alternative leaders around so that they can continue to fool people that this is a nation and run it like their personal family business.
If today's youth do not understand, who fault is it? Is it because they are dumb and stupid like what our Government is implying? Or is it a failure by our educational system to educate them and by our government to explain to them? Surely, our government is not telling us that it is the latter.
It's amazing that there are so many people out that who subscribe to what our government is saying and agrees that they are dumb enough not to understand. MM calls them stupid and useless; and they agree.
Thankfully, the other 33.3% (or more) are not as dumb; or at least, they understand what the government is saying and disagree that they are dumb.

Singapore's Gini coefficient has increased to 0.485

I am perplexed and puzzled given that singaporeans made firm decisions not to have any opposition party win the parl for the last nearly 50 years in a row, why people here are believing they can do it the next time?
Is the majority saying they prefer 1 party state? Afterall, what is the effect of the 3 representatives from opposition in parl now? What have they done?
So, maybe, the next e, the people may really ensure a 1 party state, based on the last nearly 50 years of track record ?
Wow, 1st world until like dat oso can.
champions leh.
maybe ask for second league to form a shadow? TOC can you tell me? ha ha ha.

I read tat hong kong had reached 0.525 and tat is in 2001. If u look at the chart, the gini rise especially within the last few years. Wat is the ranking of singapore compared with the whole world ? The later the data is, the more higher the country should rise. If u ask me, the data is not adequate enough to form a conclusion

Just asking... why do we have to follow western influence and must follow their style of governance ? I just felt tat liberal democracy is over rated and once u r in, u cannot make important decisions and the country start to decline.
