anyone saw this loophole?...So what is the govt going to do abt this loophole?
so now they are helpless? national defence at stake?. Held by the balls by foreigners, like chibet, who call themselves Foreign talent but in reality no talents at all?
yes i realised one thing, now our country is at the mercy of foreigners. So what if u have the best defence in SEA?.
Do u think foreign investment will come in if they realise we have a shrinking defence force?

So what? So nothing. Our defence system was nothing to boast about at the beginning anyway. One semi-atomic bomb will destroy the whole of Singapore and probably very much of the Malaya peninsular too.

Care to explain more why PRs will terminate their PR status when their children turn 13?

What he meant is that the PR is seeking to circumvent the NS entrapment.
Seriously, I don't see any terror or horror in NS liability.
Instead and speaking from my own experience, the inconvenience came only upon reservist duties.

Their sole purpose is to contribute to the economy; not to the defence. And by george they're right.
If some of us won't defend the nation why should a bunch of leeching FT bother to hold arms and fight?

Actually, i dunno if whether FTs are loyal to something in the first place. They seem to be floating around.
well what u said is true but again i am also sure certain percentage of the FT will stay and remain in SG. Only the 3rd generation of the FT will than be fully intergrated as Singaporean.
Gavaman is not stupid lah,
U will be asked to leave SG!!
Byee
pap is currently falling head over heels for the FTs,begging most to stay on and take up the citizenships here. but the FTs arent dumb, they know what is required of them and their sons. as i have moved around here in australia and met with many asian chinese here; taiwanese, HKers, PRCs etc.. all have stayed in SG before for many years, and these folks that i have met left because;
- they dont want their sons to serve NS.
- they want a even better lifestyle and future for themselves.
so what is the big deal of some FTs that leave in the nick of time for their sons to escape NS?
only in SG, the PAP govt is able to treat its citizens worse than the foreigners that stay there. tsk tsk..

stayed in Aust for a few years. U are correct. Most ppl or FT know what is in store for them. One good reason they give is:
1) Govt, will suddenly intro rules and laws in sg which none can disapprove
i knew this HK couple fairly close, and they had lived in bishan in the lat 90s to early 2000s. sold their hdb flat and made a bundle, then move to australia to settle permanently.
husband studied theology to become a pastor and wife is a high flying professional. reason of leaving? son is turing 14.
lets face it. their decision is neither immoral nor illegal. it is just a chess of game to play based on different set of countries that give them different set of opportunities. so they played and when the time is up, they clear off one stage and move onto another. simple.
and i can tell u, the HKers NEVER cut ties from the HK. coz they know HK is an entrance back to China, recognising that China is a economy superpower both now and in the future, they want their children to have access back to China too.
Only Singapore, together with the other banana south-ease asian republic, treat their own citizens and minorities like dirt.
in this issue, sg gets pawned double cos
a) The FT uses sg as a stepping stone and using all the benefits without giving back any
b) no guarantee they will stay in SG to contribute to national economy and defence.
Who had the last laugh here?
an agreement should be made for all FT to sign from prevent such exploitation

May i know in what way did they contribute to the economy? They are leeching on the economy.
Like it or not, we need the FTs here, including malaysians, our talent pool consist of more than 1/3 of FTs. And if we are to take them out, god bless us, our economy will be doom, i may have to go back to bartop dancing again. So, please look in that direction, tho not ALL FTs are good, some are very good, the employment market will adjust itself whererby employers also dun like lousy FTs. Same goes to local, not all U graduates are good, some performed worst than a diploma holders and yet get high pays, so in no time, employers will chase them out.

but most move on to other countries before they even have a chance to be chase out by their employers.
