She agrees with me that it is a FAKE job.
You think she agrees with you that it is a Fake job? She was outraged because she thought Gao Ning could win another medal.
You must be very lonely/

Hang on there a second! Who's the everybody you talking about? I am a Spore citizen and stand by our MP's decision. Perhaps PRs would stand against her, but PRs have no say in our political or national decisions.
It is high time these PRs ( not those who are peaceful, hardworking and humble) stop acting Prima Donnas like sporeans owe them a living. Do wrong, face the music. fair and square. And start over again.
To angel:-
If we blame heads, soon we will all have no heads. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Remove that link and replace a strong one, and the chain will be strong.
Accord blame and fault on the ones who are responsible. And this case, it was the coaches responsible. We are not blind. It happened in public eyes.

the above statement is uncalled for. You are no different from the woman who burst through your ass! No wonder PM had to come out and ask some Singaporean nuts to be gracious.
Originally posted by sgdiehard:hang on a second, what has this got to do with PRs or not PRs? and who are you or me to judge if it is the fault of the coach? Who are you to say that the coaches are to blame? What factual circumstance? What is right or wrong?
as for this woman, she has only been on the job for a few months, she is in Singapore and not beijing where the incident happened, she has not conducted any investigation, neither has she consulted any staff on site or in STTS, her remark was uncalled for, her outburst was untimely, her way of handling the matter is high handed.
The Chinese newspapers was completely silent on the matters, I think nobody in Lianhezhaobao takes what she said as official. Everybody involved in our table tennis team, in Beijing and in Singapore, including ng ser miang, either disagree with her, or refuse to comment.
I am also a Singaporean!
Calm down. I never said you are not a Singaporean.
Fact:-
No coach was there at Gao Ning's match. What is a coach there for?
To assess the game, how the opponent plays, to discuss tactical enhancement, moral support, etc, etc. But where was he? Any match in the olympics is crucial and critical. 5 coaches and not even one avaliable? INEXCUSABLE!
So what can you draw from such conclusions? Arent these facts enough? Are you so incapable of making a judgement? How more than the President herself, answerable to taxpayers?
PS. And i do appreciate if you can be more civil in debates instead of behaving like an uncouth moron spewing vulgarities

(again), i support the decision. it's just the timing.
at a top level game, there is absolutely no room for such lapse. did this anthony guy found himself `floating on cloud 9' after singapore won the silver? and ease off?
mp lee did not act rashly, imo. in a month, i think she saw the set-up of stta and what needed to change. she could have chosen a better time to announce the changes. however, she could see it as an opportunity to make the announcement after the `slip up'.
singapore table tennis is not going anywhere....singapore will still cream the competition at the regional level here, even at the commonwealth level. but dun fool ourselves that becos singapore got a silver, she should deliver silver or better everytime at world class meet. after all, we have an amatuerish nsa running singapore sports.
Originally posted by sgdiehard:No wonder PM had to come out and ask some Singaporean nuts to be gracious.
lhl calling singaporeans to be gracious is based on everyday living. in a circumstantial event; everyone reacts differently. some calm and collected, other burst thru' their ass as u put it.
dun mix the 2 together.

so why do we not fire all five coaches?
who is the coach who was detailed by the head coach to be present at Gao Ning's match? shouldn't he be the one fired? did he have any legitimate reason to be absence, and did the head coach aware but failed to send a replacement?
was it a planning mistake by the team manager? If it is then why fire the coach?
If the chef de missin to the games, Dr Tan Eng Liang rates the performances of the Table tennis team a big A, shouldn't the woman at least talk to Dr Tan first before making a completely opposite assessment? or she is trying to say KNOW WHO IS IN CHARGE?
I give credit to the whole table tennis team for achieving the silver medal, including the manager, and the coach. The girls would not have done so well without the proper coaching, and management support. It is sad when you fire the same persons for some mistakes not identified yet, and totally ignore their contribution. Were we not asked to remember the good things Wong KS did to forgive him for the escape of Selamat?
This team has come a long way, and have achieved what they have today, this woman has only come in in July, and she has no part whatsoever in what the team has achieved. Sad to see that her first move is to dismantle the team.
They were having discussion about firing people on 95.8fm juz now. This issue came up, the radio dj brought up the issue of firing staff after the company (team) made recent exceptional performance. The guest said that this person lacks EQ, he/she should have announce the news after the celebrations, it's like throwing in a wet blanket.
Maybe this was her 15 mins of fame. ![]()

So to said u r emphasize that whoever stay or working longer in a organisation shd given a special privilege & to forgive whatever mistake he or she had made?![]()
in the other words, r u trying to say whoever are new in a organisation are nobody? regardless he or she are the chairman, CEO or MD. also have to respect & listen to the "OLDER" people?

it is not to say that a new person is a nobody. it also does not mean that a new CEO is already a somebody....
it is about how one handles potentially difficult situation. in this case ms lim obviously has no EQ.
even if she is correct, which may I state, is yet to be proved, she could have waited a week or so after the team has returned and the proper celebration has taken place. In every high and fire situation there is always a process.
in this case, she not only jumped the gun, she has grossly mishandled the situation.
Originally posted by sgdiehard:This team has come a long way, and have achieved what they have today,
i beg to differ. 1 came only early this year, and another mid-last year.
in sporting terms, this is scantly `come a long way'.

Timing wrong?
If she hadn't voice out and stood up on behalf of the player, hell! I would have raised hell the next very day in the media!
What the heck do we contribute our funds for? For the coaches to live it up in China with those pretty functionaries instead of doing their job? It doesnt matter if we had lost the game, but we lost it because we left that poor guy to battle alone, and in Spore, no one battles anything alone for a good cause!

don't think is right by just pin point to somebody u dont like....
If this Ms Lee din do anythings, sure will have someone start to critisize her by doing ntg....."do oso die, dont do oso die" ![]()
A Lee firing a Lee? lol This incident somehow reminds me of those illogical women bosses having their periods.
Let's see...the story goes like this:
Gao Ning's coach, Zu Haining was with another player, Yang Zi because that player's coach (Chen Jian) had taken ill. Zu had thought after he had finished with Yang, he would go over to join Gao. Misfortune has it that Yang's match started 1 hour late and thereby leaving Gao with no coach for his match. Tragedy indeed. The other 2 coaches (including Head coach Liu Guodong), were tending to Li Jiawei and Feng Tianwei for another upcoming match.
So how now? Scapegoat search in the form of Antony Lee. But who can one really blame in this situation? Accountability is a must but a sacking? Surely unwarranted given that Antony Lee had put in so much effort facilitating the team. And Lee had to find out from a third party that his services were no longer required. Surely everyone in his shoes would have appreciated a closed door talk with Lee Bee Wah? And no consultation with table tennis officials whatsoever, just a meeting with the players. And when pressed for a reason why Antony Lee as sacked, she simply said "let's move on" and the decision was made even before the Olympics.
Even Head coach Liu's future hangs in the balance. It was him who scouted these talents. Wow, such kind treatment after all that toil and she has hardly even warmed her president's seat. A slap on the wrist and strong words of encouragement would have been better.
Granted that a coach would have been helpful in battle analysis but mind you, this was the FIRST round. Opponent was mediocre at best and Gao Ning was supposed to be the "Republic's top player". If Gao's loss was attributed to the absence of a coach and resultantly in Lee's sacking; way too harsh.
I hope LBW doesn't handle constituents in such high-handedness lol. Clown of AMK.

timing about going public.
unless one is a media-whore, things can be resolved privately. the public need not know (for now).

is that the sequence of event? what was reported was that the other 3 coaches were tendering to 2 women in their prep for the match. lee and fang weren't playing.

Yeh, according to ST, they were preparing for the q-final match. Not playing yet though.

henceforth, pulling one coach out to tend to our #1 isn't all too much to ask for.

Then in that case, do u have any idea why Antony Lee and Liu didn't do that?
Since #1, what is a first round match compared to a q-final of Li/Feng?

oversight? forgotten that someone else is sick. i think the 2 gentlemen know exactly.
if it is essential that a coach accompany a player for a match, then nothing else can over-ride that, even if LJW is playing in the finals.

Speculation is as good as anyone's half-baked guess. LBW shd have discussed with Liu and Antony first instead of letting one know he is sacked and another that his fate hangs in the balance....both thru a 3rd party.
Accountability first and foremost but sacking in such a fashion and u second it?
It's an honest mistake.
Let's move on.
Oh wait, the people involved are not elites. ![]()
