So how, Increase GST to help the poor? now look.... Yes can give gst offset... but are u going to give it year after year, the GST is going to remain when ur GST offset is long gone.

Is the giving of GST offset done out of guilt or is he genuinely doing it for the benefit of people? Want to do something good, remove the GST. I am puzzled how GST is used to help the poor, so far there is nothing said about this.

i have a suggestion...
govt public services GST: reduce down.
e.g. hospital, polyclinic, HDB, town councils, PUB, SP services...etc.
private services GST: remain at least.
e.g. restaurants, businesses....etc.
no way GST will be stripped
and yes, govt will be giving out money every year now
call it offset, credits, shares, dividends, watever shit
cos they started it oredi
if they stop......... hohoho~

singapore is lucky already...
do u know Canada have 2 income taxes... at national level and at provincial level. e.g. Canada as a country, and British Columbia as province.

Times are bad now, the least they can help is to reduce GST or remove GST for the abovementioned.

Yah... but the rationale to increase is to help the poor mah... now the poor affected the most by the inflation, which is partly due to the GST increase, which means their reason was wrong.. and hence need to correct their policies accordingly.

gst will help the poor get poorer and make them stupider at the same time. rich people dont feel the pinch of gst at all, so it doesnt even affect them.
GST was never to help the poor....if yes, where are the concrete blueprints on how it can do so??
It was just a convenient ans in parliament that time.
