malaysian national national schools use malay as the primary medium teaching language...
the chinese if not happy, can send their childrens to chinese schools... but still have to take their SPM (o level) and their SPTM (a level) in the national languagethen y r u here?

The key to the problem is for PARENTS to enforce their children to speak proper english and mother tongue. The teachers will definitely speak properly so no worries there. It's the culture of the parents which will affect their child. If the parents don't speak properly, the kids won't too. In a way, it's our culture, sort of like when a black american speak their lingo I can't understand it well. But most kids I see nowadays don't have singlish problem, and can speak properly if they want too.

The main issue is education system.
Expect parents to enforce is naive in my opinion.

But parents enforcing children to speak properly doesn't seem pragmatic to me.
The better solution lies with reforming education system.
