I really hope that you are right. Kids nowadays are pretty righteous over what teachers teach them in class, i.e. they still think that the teachers are right on some aspects of the language.
Teachers in Singapore has more influence over the kids than parents do.
The parents are responsible for the children well being. The community (village) brings them up to be useful members of society.
Singapore is lacking on the latter.
This is due to our housing system. High rise abodes where space are a luxury and this creates a guarded, selfish attitude. Landed property, are barricaded in, creating an exclusive attitude. We have lost the community (kampong) sprirt

everytime i back to singapore, i will convert my english to Singlish, becos those auntie and uncle all spoke like that. In order to be close to them, i spoke as same as their accent loh...
