U agreed ah nei to live near your house. Personally, i think should educate them of Singapore Law. Tell them where is Geylang if they had needs. Go little India to drink and not downstair. If they have money issue, the channel is open for the India's Indian. Perhaps set up a community for them. It should help.
I do not mind them living near my house. As long as above is done, Precaution is there. Why not.
What do you think?![]()
Singaporeans are Singaporeans. It's all about the money.
Serangoon Garden residents are signing petitions against setting up a foreign workers dormitory near their residences simply because the presence of foreign workers is going to depress their property prices.
On the flip side, I can imagine the residents welcoming a large foreign expat community like in Holland village cos that would build up a "upscale" image for the area and project an upscale image and hence prime property value.
Besides Bangla and Tamils, there would be some PRCs, Thais or Indon.
i believe is not the races tat concern of this foriegn workers? more like their profession n public behaviour?
Chinatown u can see many PRC women hanging around too.
But there are also many foreign expats rom china, india, blangha, ang mo, etc.. which are professionals and well manners here.
probably the social behaviour of the foreign expats and foreign workers around affect the property value.. either way?
1st I don't agree with itedino that only Ah Nei stay there, They going to make Worker domintory on the old school, all foriegn worker will stay there, Myanmar, thai, sri lanka, Bangladesh, and Indian national. Pls make your statement correctly.

You no understand.. they trying to ensure their job is secure.
By throwing rubbish.. they will have a job.
Think lor.. who cleans up the lubbish ?
I would say no... but then again, this guys are just looking for a place to stay during their stay in Singapore. these guys are probably already earning peanuts compared to many locals, but are discriminated by us nonetheless. Guess at the end of the day, they need a space of their own too. yeap, I sound contradicting, feel sorta divided on this view as well. I

All rubbish and dish collection at food centres are to be given to Singaporeans as the first priorty. Last time u can see many ah neh doing cleaning and rubbish collection jobs, and our older singaporeans were left with no jobs, after much appeal, the govt agreed that such jobs should be given to Singapore uncles and aunties first, however physical jobs like taking whole rubbish bins is still belong to ah neh.
The other reason for not allowing ah neh and bangalas to doing housing areas cleaning is to prevent resident maids getting pregnant and other sex problems
For foreigner workers, dormintories should be build near industrial areas where they work with proper care and maintain. Govt should allow business people to tender for the dormintory and rent out to companies, by and large, they can fine the company or the workers for poor maintaining of the dorm.
