This one is a tricky thing. If appreciate SGD too much, your exports will be too expensive as compared to neighbouring countries. Other countries might not be happy also... Many many factors to consider...

FYI, I am in Air Cargo. There will be less transhipment and less export. BUT WE HAVE more IMPORT. AS we buy things VERY Cheap and we can repack and sell to oversea much expensive.

three pronged method to appreciate currency.
1. Dont need to do anything. When the IRs/F1 are done, foreigners will come and spend and demand for SGD goes up.
2. Stop buying foreign goods/services/currency to limit supply of SGD
3. Demand more wages to increase production costs so that the govt will appreciate currency to reduce imported inflation.

I believe we should just leave it to the government with regard to macro managing the economy.But Australia does it too, to keeo their currency strong, but they do it though bank interest rate and motgage rates. But singapore does it in food, transport and other services. I think if i want to eliminate something out of the equation, i should follow the aussie style of exempting food items and basic services from GST

You are right. I dun deny. We can buy from overseas, repack or re-assemble.
Apply for Ceft of Orgin. In logistic, this is requirement for FTA aka Free Trade Agreement.
Do you guys know Goods for Israel is not accepted by MUSLIM countries like Malaysia.
Normally they ship to Singapore Repack, Apply for CO that is made in singapore and den sell to malaysia. wahahah.

Good thing is If our currency is very strong like UK POUND. When we go holiday, definetly a plus for us. IF Foreigner is to spend in our country. We will earn like Mad.
I hope i can visit US based on 1 - 1. Definely we can handle. IN UK, Ppl earning 2000 pounds. Exchange singapore is SGD 6000.
Imagine Singapore is like Thailand and UK is like SIngapore. The English People come singapore Feel our things fucking Cheap.

I reckon Asia Country will start a new currency just like EURO.
ASIA Dollar will united ASEAN NATION. IT just a matter of times.I do not think Singapore will take part in ASIA Dollar as our currency are quite strong.
