Except Malay races, all other races staying in Singapore are FT or
But these are the first generation, our forefathers believe in this dream (which has now become an illusion), they work hard, strive to put Singapore where it is today. Their son's committed themselves to serving 2 years - 2.5 years serving the nation for a miserly hundred to afew hundred dollars a month.
After they have built Singapore to what it is today, the government imports more foreign talents to compete for jobs, schools, house and other resources. Doesn't those first generation feel cheated?
Same with Australia and New Zealand, but do you see their government upset the balance of the population by importing excessive new immigrants?
It's like building up a company like Microsoft, it started from Bill Gates with a small company (net worth a few hundred thousand dollars), slowly Bill Gates build up his company to a multi billion dollar company, but then Bill Gates release more new share capital into the market at startup share price (which is lower than current share price). Do you think the initial shareholders will be happy with what Bill Gates has done? Must Bill Gates seek the approval of his shareholders before he embark on such a campaign? But of course if your run your company like a dictatorship such as North Korea, there is no need to seek any approval from anybody, what you say goes.
talent???

FYI,one third of Oz pple are not born in OZ!!
More than that lor, most are convicts decendents from Europe
I think Maurizio brought up a very valid point. It has been said that our society has always been an immigrant one. But having said that, their descendants [i.e. us] stay on in the country and contribute to it in many ways, like working, NS, etc.
How many 'foreign talents' simply come here, stay momentarily to get whatever it is they seek [an education, jobs, etc] before jetting off for another place?
OMG WHAT A FUCKED UP THREAD!? IM GETTING SO FUCKING PISSED!!!

Other countries cannot be compared to Singapore. Different countries have different policies, those dont necessarily apply to Singapore's state interests and laws.
Having said the native Australians, the aboriginal australoids should rightfully have citizenship.
Imagine how Australia would be like if the only occupants were these wogs and the British hadnt transported their convicts to Australia.
Likewise our forefathers from South China and South India came to a malayian island and built this up.
At that time they were foreigners but they made this then backward kampong island into a first world nation. We are born into this country. We're third generation Singaporeans.
Just because these foreigners are the same race as us doesnt mean they can celebrate citizenship. They come here to benefit from what our pioneers created.
They wouldnt give a damn about Singapore if it were the same worthless island that it used to be, would they?
Hey thread starter go back to china or india or wherever the hell youre from. You spoilt my entire day by making me mad the moment I logged on and viewed your angst evoking thread. You asshole! gah! ![]()

Actually, I already know. My question was merely a rhetorical one. But yeah, I can imagine you'd have quite a substantial figure from your survey once you're done.

wrong. human are one of the migratory species.
but then again, it always been the STRONGs that dominated the land, check out Oz, Americas, africa and many part of the worlds that the original occupants of the land had been displaced off by the powerful.
but i cant say the same for singapore and how LKY 's domination and control the singaporeans, it is not true that he is powerful but the voters are stupid and naive.
