I will vote for any man or woman who can really be a People's Representative. no matter who he is no matter what he is.
Well let's just say that this topic is pure racism. Some americans are not voting for Obama simply because he's a muslim and black.
And i suppose you think christians and buddist make good leaders?

David Marshall - a Singaporean Jew whose family migrated from Iraq.
As a Jew, David Marshall was secular - like the Turks, who insisted that religion has no place in politics in Turkey.
David Marshall did not impose his religious beliefs onto Singaporeans of all ethnic or religious backgrounds, and was supported by one and all.
Can the Malay Muslims successfully imitate the Turks in the same ways that the Arabs have been imitated by the Malays ?
let's not sterotype. The TS specifically says muslims, not malay muslims.

The TS also specifically mentioned Singapore - the largest percentage of Muslims in Singapore are Malays, while there is only a very small percentage being converts from other ethnicity.

Look at the minority races in Malaysia and Indonesia. They are marginalised.
I doubt that a Muslim leader can be impartial. A democratic one is better. Let's see if Anwar can prove me wrong.

Ok den, would u vote for a chinese muslim as PM then? or would you have to think through your answer again?
Anwar is not a representative of the whole muslim population right? Then can i say that obama is a representative of the whole muslim population instead?
fuck it lah... the Lee regime must die!!!!

They are "marginalised" because that is the only way the government can appease the masses, by dodging the economic problems and shifting focus to a racial one.
lol thanks maurizio13. That pretty sums up what i have to say

Does anyone need to think through the answer ?
Is the answer not obvious ?
Can a Muslim keep the faith out of politics ?

I am more moderate.
I only want Lee Kuan Yew to die.

Well at least I know you think muslims are unsuitable in politics. Well let's just let the majority decide

In Singapore perhaps, for he will not last very long on the seat. Don't have the exact figures but I don't think our population is dominated by muslims/practicing muslims.

Time and again... One fact stood... the Majority makes bad decisions... eg. 66.6
I hear the word "majority decide" I shudder

Yes, as long as any Singaporean - {whatever faiths} - cannot keep religion out of politics, and insist on using his public office to promote his faith, he has no business to take on the leadership role in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious country.
Period.

If Singapore is developed into a progressive society - not as the present one developed by LKY and his PAP - even someone from the ethnic minority group in Singapore can be in the Prime Minister.
The important factor is whether he or she can keep politics secular - and not allow religion to enter into Politics.

They are not politicised.
Easily influenced by state propaganda.

Well unfortunately that's how decisions are made. I don't shudder, i find ways to overcome if i can.
But what makes u think the minority would make better decisions instead? it's because the things they proposed are not subjected to scrutiny.
And definitely i agree with your statement that leaders that cannot keep religion out is not fit to be in politics. But not muslims okay?
