Time to look into PAP Town Councils' account book ?

In his speech at a National Day dinner held in Hougang in July this year, SM Goh urged Hougang residents to “study the annual accounts of the town council to ensure that the funds are properly used”.
Now it has been revealed by the press that some PAP Town Councils have lost few percentage of their sinking funds in the purchase of Lehman-linked products, is it time for us to relook into the accounts of these Town Councils ?
I did a check on the websites of the 14 PAP Town Councils as well as the 2 opposition Town Councils and none have published their accounts online.
Given that the sinking funds of the Town Councils are public funds contributed by residents, shouldn’t its balance sheet be made public for us to know how it is being managed ?

If not, they sure aint give a damn about this money, coz we resident of various council will never be able to open their books!

Someone said they cannot guarantee investments are safe.By that same token, why would TC invest?
From this token, who is responsible and accountable for both success (i know many dont mind taking credit) and boo boo / fiasco / FAILURE?

I am neutral. Why ? because I also has praise about singapore - I thank the gov for creating the MRT that really beats traffic congestion problem head on. The success factor I think was the late revered Mr OTC.

I think after each rally by PAP during the election period, they asked nicely to the citizens, any problems sir/madam, questions please...Young girl, you got any question,..nevermind if you are underage to vote...just ask. But no one asked and no one got problem leh, all happily voted for PAP, so now why make so much noise leh??? the pap continues to take its citizens what have entrusted their votes to with scant accountability and respect.
for a government which preaches transparency, accountability and above the table operation of its governance, its inability to give a clear cut answer to the losses it made using public funds to make investments is deplorable.
that `only 1-2% of the pool' and `negligible loss' smacks of hiding or covering up what is the real loss.
it seems like the government here practises 2 standards of accountability and responsibility, one for them and a stricter one for the rest who are outside the inner circle.
can't they just come clean with a straight forward answer if it is indeed a `negligible amount' as they put it?

They have to understand that it is the people's money that they are spending on the lost investment.
If they are not accountable for the money, who is ?
They have to step forward to explain.
If the same thing can happened to the sinking fund, what happened to the national reserves ???

In the first place, all Town Council's funds should be placed in Singapore Government Bonds.
I give an example of Bishan-Toa Payoh, doesn't mean they are involved in those Lehman products.
They had about $100 million of investments in financial assets. How you define small amounts? I view it as 10% or less. So if it's 5% losses of $100 million will amount to $5 million losses. Can do a significant events project already.

Town council where got account dept ??, to my understanding, all town council accounts are centralised to be manage n audit by Lee n Lee firm
