it happened to Australia - lots of imiigrants who have a dubious background, cheater mentality and keng attitude
Chinaman, sri lankan, afghan and india indian will just tear society apart with their 'external trash". Look at OZ, especially melbourne, if u ar enot careful, people will cheat u in many ways. Hope s'pore learn about the importance of societal harmoney and culture. It should not deteriorate.

We need to be very careful in granting foreigners visas.... But sadly, the opposite seems to have happened, now every tom, dick or Harry can jus come in and get WP.....
Now people are starting to talk about crimes commited by foreigners... But these are just the beginning... How does the foreigners in schools influence our kids?
got foreigner in my sch also... most of them stuck up.... they think as though we owe them for coming, or like its becoz of their dad tt we are surviving. if i had a say, i say holocaust all of them, or force em out of the country and confiscate they property.

not just mel but perth is the same. there are lotsa african now in perth.
you will be surprise, many couldnt not speak english.
On the otherhand, there are many chinese migrants who could not speak english and often in my opinion, do not fit in well into the aussie way of life.
singapore conditions is worse than aust.
aussie are bred in a higher quality of life, same as local s'poreans but this foreigners come from parts of the world which has civil wars, poverty and crime.
How can they integrate into a first world society? And now many flock to Aus for the social security system. but in s'pore there is no social security and that may discourage them from staying in s'pore.
i have a feeling that s'pore is more like a entry/ exit point for foreigners who stay for a short while and leave shortly.
A leopard cannot change its spots
Meaning
The notion that things cannot change their innate nature.
Origin
From the Bible, Jeremiah 13:23 (King James Version):
"Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil."

let the PAP reap what it sows.
even our stray dogs are not safe from being eaten by foreigners who put a big cage in a forested area in singapore to catch * who knows what , perhaps bigfoot for dinner?*

How long before the aussie notice this and takes action to plug the flow from singapore, they will simply jus blanket all singaporeans and downgrade singapore, ie. no more easy obtaining a visa to australia like now for Singaporeans. ie. Singapore = 3rd world according to aust immigrations then...

had been thinking about this, cause has it got something to do with passport rights? doo PRs hold singapore passports?
ITs good anyway. let the foreigners get stuck in singapore and suffer. Selfish attitutude like theirs refusing to serve NS..
i think there have been some news about curbing in flow from China and Sri Lanka , cant confirm but heard from friends
i think the oz immigration policies are idiotic, people who are willing to work hard like eg singaporeans are refused a easy residency but instead people who cant talk english get it at the snap of their fingertips. Wtf?

singapore conditions is worse than aust.
The only way Singapore condition can be worse than aust is that it is overcrowding, because Singapore is a small island and there is no way to expand the livable area.
Look at it the other way, foreigners are squeezed in Singapore and have to communicate with Singaporeans as well as other foreigners, they will assimilate soon than we think.
In Australia, the place is so big, you can live all your life there without speaking english. Many HK immigrants speak only cantonese. and besides the asian immigrants, there are other immigrants from eastern europe who do not come to Singapore. These people dont assimilate either. In that sense, australia is already much worse than in Singapore.
In Canada, same problem, but it is worse when you have cities like vancouver with area for HK, for the Indians, primarily Singh, and for those from Singapore and Malaysia. Such area is much bigger than the Geylang here. Immigrants starts their own society there, they don't integrate.
In Singapore, we have 4 official languages including Mandarin and Tamil, and Chinese dialects are still used. there is no problem for immigrants from China and India to communicate with locals here. In Australia and Canada, the only official language is English but you find all the immigrants speaking so many other native languages. Vancouver even have Cantonese and the Singh TV....may be in the not so distant in future, Cantonese will become an official language in Canada.
Not too long ago, the english and the descendents of east asian immigrants took to the streets to settle racial problem in England. that is because the descendents of the east asian immigrants, never took England as their home. Now the muslim in the UK is asking for a change to the local laws to accept many muslim practices in their schools and elsewhere.....
In the end, immigrants are everywhere looking for better life. Ultimately, it is important if they would treat their new place of settlement their home, whether they would assimilate into the local society. The indians immigrants in UK never did, the HK immigrants in Canada did not, the eastern Europeans in Australia are not...
You think Singapore is worse, you really don't know what is happening outside.
alrite, alrite, singapore is da best...bar none.
on a serious note, if one choose not to assimilate into the society, he/she is done for, migrant or not. it doesn't matter where one choose to resettle.
the herd mentality holds true in all situations; school, new work place, new country. most will try to hang around a familiar environment and people first. later on, the streetsmart will move away from their initial area of comfort.
on a flip side, i have friends/relatives living in australia, canada, thailand.....and most integrate into the society and living a full life.
australia and canada remain more live-able than singapore.
migrants from elsewhere have no problems communicating with locals here in singapore? try li jiawei.
Double post.

So you're saying that being in someone's face all the time is a good thing? ![]()
Looks like you're the one who doesn't know what it's like outside.

nowadays, everytime i take the train, i get pissed off. sometimes, i just work from home....
today, taking the bus to the office, china-man on the bus talked damn loud for 20mins on the phone with `no hui' attitude despite glares from other passengers.
public transport was never this bad up to a couple of years ago.
Well that's just seriously uncool. Then again, some Singaporeans here in Melbourne seem to have no trouble making spectacles of themselves, especially when they're roving round the city in packs.

i move in less than 30days, and i have been issued a standing order by my cousin there to AVOID box hill.
but i guess black sheep are everywhere.
Oh, Box Hill's not too bad. Around the city it can sometimes get annoying when the herds of students are around.
You coming to study or work?
our country smaller in size, not so easy to come in illegally.
