well said, here in Singapore we have Chinese nationals who have no trouble making spectacles of themselves, especially when they're roving round the city in packs.
but glad you australians aren't migrating and put the blame on these sillyporeans. hehehe...

well then congrats, but its funny how what the rest of the world call fighters who never give up are labeled as quitters in one small island

Hey, it happens anywhere. The advantage here is that we have the space to avoid getting in each others' faces.
As has been said before in this thread, well and good if people wish to be assimilated into society, but it really is their loss if they choose not to. There's just something not right about requiring people to become "one of us". One might argue that assimilation keeps things "in ordnung", but you're throwing out the diversity baby out with the bathwater.

kite flying during a thunderstorm is idiotic,
sgdiehard likes kite flying,
therefore, sg diehard is an idiot.
that's what you are essentially saying.....

I know that you know that such things happened everywhere. Oz has the advantage of space, but not in Singapore, it is so small so people have to learn to accept each other because you cannot avoid getting in each others' face.
Its good for you to accept those who don't assimilate with the "diversity" perspective. In Singapore, there are idiots who would only accept the born in Singapore as true blue Singaporean. Some idiots think that all Singaporeans must speak English to be true Singaporean, why should Li Jiawei speaks english? they forgot that Singapore is a multi racial society and there are 4 official languages, and we can choose anyone! I really think NUS failed very badly in their contribution to the society, when they produced this kind of graduates.
So, many singaporeans choose to migrate, among many other reasons, there are those who migrate because they can't stand the influx of foreign immigrants into Singapore. These are hypocrites! they can't stand people who speak only mandarin, or tamil, so they choose to go to a place where only english is spoken, do you think they will also adopt the "diversity" perspective when they come face to face with other immigrants in Australia?
I am very glad that such people leave Singapore, for good I hope, don't leave their CPF around just in case. It is idiotic trying to compare the life in a City with that of a continent. To those of us who live in Singapore, this is always our home, and it is always good to be home. We adjust and adopt to accommodate new comers, and we hope they do the same. There are too many high rise here so we don't fly kite here, we fly radio controller model plane. Those who insist on their own way have to leave, for a bigger space, so they can fly a kite.
Good day.

just to make you feel good, i will just `pick' on 1 of your many trash here. even that, you got no balls to address me directly, which is fine by me.
you talk assimiliation and fitting in and yet in your books, it's ok for your favourite girlfren to choose to stick to mandarin in a land where there are malays, indians and other races living in a land locked island. it's very revealing about your own frame of mind. then, LKY must be an idiot too for advocating english as the main first language. try as you might to weave and turn and dance on the side, you often end up with your dick in your mouth. which mouth, only you know, becos often here you talk thru your a-hole.
lastly, let's not second guess why someone is leaving this island paradise called singapore just as many who choose to come. there is no right or wrong, good or bad. you choose to stay; maybe becos you love your adopted singapore too much or becos you ain't got the ability to get out. so be it. i don't question your decision. but don't sound like a sour grape just because your (lack of) mobility had you firmly grounded that you pooh pooh others who choose to leave. i can leave tomorrow, and come back the next day here if i want. it is a global village we live in after all.
You think Singapore is worse, you really don't know what is happening outside.
if u think the foreigners in singapore are assimilating into sgoreans? you must be living besides LKY house.
foreigners in singapore dont took to the street because singapore govt is supportive of foreign migrant policy and singaporeans more tolerant than most thought.
Do you still believe singaporeans really intergrate together with migrants? little india, geylang serai, geylang are already start to develop distinct gp dominated by certain race.
I had a family in aussieland,i work in singaporean. i can say, i know singapore well. it definitely aint such a good picture you are trying to paint.

Only those who have balls ONLY will address people like you. But I also have brain so I decided not to waste time. May be now I should just tell you why, so that you wont think I am avoiding you. You don't have to make me feel happy, I am happy enough, for a start, no need to search for a better place to migrate.
I don't understand your post on flying kite.
Your second para in the above post implies that since LKY advocating english as the first main language, everybody must know english. Don't know why you live by what LKY said. I don't. Singapore language policy encourages citizens to learn 2 languages, one for business (to make a living) and the mother tongue to carry on with your own culture. The businessmen in the old teloh ayer streets never needed to use english for business and many of them till today don't speak english. Li Jiawei doesn't need english to play table tennis, what's wrong if she doesn't speak english?
I said among many other reasons for migrating, there are these...hypocrites, I don't hit the whole boat of people with one bamboo, hahaha, know what I mean? I don't do wild guess, I listen, I observe and I infer.
Singapore is not a paradise to me, nowhere in this world is a paradise.
Sour grape? hahaha....just eat a little bit more cheese, and a larger sip of red wine, the sour tast actual add variety to my food.
I still won't respond to your language like "dick in your mouth" "your a-hole" or "pooh pooh"...hehehehe....don't use such words in Australia, bad reputation for Singapore.

I don't paint good picture about Singapore, I don't paint a bad picture about oz or any other country. there are good and bad sides of every country.
My family is in Singapore and I work here. that is a good enough picture.
auzzieland good? yes, I go for holidays there every now and then. May be more so in the near future...hehehe it is cheaper now.

write much, says little.
you mean writing addressing to another person while indirectly replying to my comment/posts on you is THEN making good use of your time? you are really smarter than i thought!
re-read your earlier post about the fly kite analogy i posted. what you wrote is illogical. that's what i am saying. i wrote in "sgdiehard" in that analogy becos i know you will be slighted and be completely distracted. you proved me right and walked right into it. you are not as measured as you claim you are. (listen, observe, infer???)
on lky and first language, dun try to `tai chi' and talk about the cultural stuff. so, if your indian neighbour choose to talk to you in tamil, you think it will promote neighbourliness? for once, stop slice and dice as you have been doing. if you say integrate and fit in, your very argument already backfired in your face.
stop refering to old telok ayer streets, if you want to continue to live in the 50s/60s, sorry, i wasn't born then.
when i learn aussie expletives, i will be sure to use it on you. that you can count on it, mate.
as an `anak angkat' in singapore, you are doing very well in singapore `protecting' its sometime flawed system, even if you disagree with the english as 1st language bit.

how will a malay and a chinaman communicate if there is no common language to make sure everyone is on the same wavelength?
bangla roadsweeper: " i dun need english, i am only here to sweep the pavement."
china peidu mama. " i dun need english, i am only here to ......(u fill in the blank)
uzbeks civil engineer,"why shud i learn english is singapore? i am only here to supervise building construction."
indian construction worker, " why english deh? i only here to lay bricks what?"
li jiawei, "i am here to play ping pong. why must i integrate into singapore and learn to speak english? singaporean speak mandarin to me lah! after all, sgdiehard say no need. just hit the BALLs well".
you still think you make sense?

what craps are u on about? i know people from bosnia, india, vietnam in melbourne who become excellent engineers. u think u are from singapore u are so fucking great?

Chinaman, sri lankan, afghan and india indian will just tear society apart with their 'external trash". Look at OZ, especially melbourne, if u ar enot careful, people will cheat u in many ways. Hope s'pore learn about the importance of societal harmoney and culture. It should not deteriorate.
May be our govt find Singaporeans too tame so they are opening the floodgate to immigrants to get some challenges?
Make money lah.
