If a person is given a choice to die. e.g bite a button in his mouth, and he will die painlessly, yet at the final moment, the person chose not to, but was coerced to bite the button, THEN that is killing.
Very aptly put, dotaro.
the person's life is his/her own, should not be dictated by any law or governing body on how he/she should die. if he/she wishes to die on his/her own will, then so be it, but as long it is a reasonable reason, its by far, ok to do so.
few scenarios where Euthanasia is obsolete
if i have a terminal illness, not bedridden, not in hospital, all i need is to get up
a. go to a convenient store and get some rat poison and finish myself off.
b. jump off a tall building
c. get a knife, drain all the blood from my body when nobody is at home
d. what else?
but if i am bedridden or in the hospital, i may have to find a way which may be harder but still plausible.
Euthanasia is when you want to make it into a show. For family to watch you die.
For TV to broadcast your spectacular death and most importantly can
claim INSURANCE because your death is LEGAL!.
As joke someone related this way between a couple : "honey, since you're
going might as well go faster, otherwise all the insurance will be spent on the
hospital bill. You know you'd promised to bring me to new york? ok?"
how people want to die, it is up to them.
as long as there is no law to force me to be killed against my will
Try putting opponents of euthanasia through some torture, i bet in the end they also want to die
I hope I have the courage not to deliberately choose death over pain... of course it is easy for me to say now....
