eastern sabah has been relatively safe over the years since the last much publicised kidnapping.
a couple fren of mine just return from sipadan on adiving trip and the pictures i saw is absolutely beautiful.
bali is more dangerous if the same benchmark applies.
lonely planet did not factually back-up their claim. how many kidnaps actually happened?

My friend's fiance living in JB was in a coma...becoz he was robbed while riding on a motorbike. 2 robbers kick his bike while he will travelling...impact so bad that his helmet broke into 2.
My in-law's neighbour son was shot during an arm robbery, shot point blank on the head. The man was still in coma.
While pumping petrol, my frend saw a arm robber happen within the premise of petrol station... shot was fired into the car that was being robbed
so such news are censored across the causeway.

Some kidnapping are inside job, so dun get confuse ya, some youngsters just want some of their parent money, so get a few guys, paid them to kidnap him/her, there go for a holiday and come back, parent paid the ransom, rich liao...
