Drug trafficking charge against Australian journalist Peter Lloyd dropped
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/11/04/2409973.htm

AGC must explain why the charge was dropped.
If not, CSJ will say SG hang only drug trafficking moles
from small or third world countries.

"The 233 page evaluation found that from May 2001 to October 2002, 3810 registered individuals made 56861 visits to the centre. A total of 409 incidents of drug overdose were recorded—including 329 from heroin and 60 from cocaine—though none were fatal.
The report estimates that at least four lives were saved as a result of the proximity of users to medical staff. The report was prepared by the evaluation committee headed by John Kaldor, professor of epidemiology and deputy director of the national centre of HIV epidemiology at the University of New South Wales."
If life of drug abusers is so good, then why should they quit drugs!!
Ketamine is an anaesthetic that has become common at dance parties.
SDP complained that the trio in kangaroo were handed
a bundle of documents only 2 days before the trial.
If it is truw,AGC,ie the DPP ,shall hand over all docs to
the defendants well in advance, say few days.
Gopalan Nair and (may include Chia Ti Lik in other cases,
not so sure)said the same thing,
like amendment of charge only was told when appearing
in court. etc.
Every defendants shall have reasonable time to read and prepare
AGC shall instruct all DPP to give reasonable notice to lawyers, defendants
etc for new or amended charges, new or amended doc etc.
AGC shall set a guideline in regard to length of doc
or complexity of new /amended stuffs.
Eg ten pages for 3 days etc,
This is damn wrong to treat defendants or lawyers like speed reading
machines.Give every one some respects and time.
This is not another AG
www.agc.gov.sg
show submissions of DPP for cases which public shall feel interested.
This is a brave act!!This give bigger pressure to DPP.
AG also takes a pro active roles in discussing CK Tang boss cases,
u can read Nair,Dows Jones etc AG submissions!
I dunt know if other countries' AG publize their submissions
on net.Good move.
Justice need to be done. But also needs seen to be done.
Have u seen them?
The defendent clarified that the drug or "ice" is for own consumption, not smuggling.
Anymore question?..yes, the lady over there...
The bloke was caught selling the drug to someone else.....sounds fishy. The AG must be taken to task for the unsuccessful prosecution of the trafficking charge. Or was it the police who did not gather sufficient evidence?

You forget nosiy's enemy is Oz?
Did AG really drop the trafficking charge 2 months ago?
AGC shall explain to the public to maintain its high reputation;
---the reasons of dropping the charge;
---If Lloyd's lawyer was informed 2 months ago,why did AGC not
telling the public?
Peter Lloyd explains why he turned to the drug ice.

In an exclusive interview, Peter Lloyd tells Jennifer Cooke how he fell from grace.

The charge was quietly withdrawn two months ago but publicly announced by Lloyd's Singapore lawyers only on Tuesday. Lloyd says it was a false allegation by a Singaporean man he says blamed him to protect his own dealer.
...
Lionnoisy, if you knew anything about anything you'd know that Ketamine is classified as an anaesthetic agent and is frequently used as one, especially as animal tranquilisers.
SG treating it as an illegal drug? Well then if that's the case then hospitals and dental clinics should be investigated because I'm pretty sure they use similar anaesthetics. Seriously, all anaesthetics have potential for abuse, it is illogical to single out a single drug such as Ketamine and rule it to be illegal.

Court trial is 'adversarial', meaning the court only decide on the charges brought forward by the DPP. Dropping charge doesn't mean that AG prosecute unsuccessfully, it merely means that AG decide not to pursue that particular charge.
In fact it looks like a pretty wise decision to me, given that the accused is going to plead guilty to his other charges and has shown remorse. Just 0.4 grams of ice?? Unlikely to be trafficking, give some chance, if not later Singapore flamed by the Human Rights NGOs again
