Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) in Aug 2008 fell 14% from the same month last year as shipments for both electronics and non-electronics goods tumbled. Shipments to 9 of Singapore's top 10 NODX markets shrank.
A technical recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of quarter-on-quarter contractions in the GDP, the total value of goods and services produced in a country. On an annualised, quarter-on-quarter basis, Singapore's GDP contracted 6% in the June quarter from the previous three months. Singapore's economic growth, on a year-on-year basis, slowed to an annual rate of 2.1% in Q2 2008.

The island's economy shrank 6.8% in the third quarter, according to government data, worse than the first estimate of 6.3% the government made last month.

Why do you think people develop delusions? There are things that cannot be explained by physics, yet.
You put is as: "things that, in my view, are beyond physics."
For example, I don't know you and I can "believe" that you are human. That is using logic to conclude thus, given the state of art of logic and knowledge.
I could be delusional and believe that you are an "artificial intelligence" but it is a delusion if I believe that because there are no evidence that you are an AI and as far as I know, AI cannot participate in a forum like humans as yet.
So the key as to whether people become delusional or not is how they handle the unknowns. They can make many assumptions and have many beliefs regarding the unknows and unknowable, resulting in delusions or they can say, "I don't know and I believe that given the state of human knowledge and logic, is unknowable."
This is the way to avoid having delusions.

That right or wrong is my impression of you.
It gives you the freedom to look for evidence and seek the truth where the conclusion demands that evidence and logic supports it, inspite of your beliefs not supported by evidence and logic where religion is concerned.
In contrast, there are many that cannot make the distinction. They cling on to conclusions without firm evidence because they are "used" to doing that - they take what they believe (in their religion) as truth and that confuses them and they take the attitude that believing something as truth (rather than believing because they choose to believe, without the evidence) without firm evidence is right and the correct thing to do. That makes them delusionals and idiots for believing something without evidence, things that people should believe only if they have firm evidence for the belief.
