Economic theory and practice are two different things. Prices are falling worldwide and countries like Singapore where despots have self interests to keep prices up, so entities like Temasek looks good even after losing so much public money in foreign countries, at the expense of everyone else and the country.
The people therefore must do it.

No, hoarding will just bring down the economy and let super-inflation begin.

HOARDING money will bring prices down. When people HOARD their money and stop buying, prices will come down. Singapore will become more liveable and the economy more competitive. The despots know that but they have to ensure their Cronies Linked Companies show super profits (even aftyer losing massive amounts in foreign countriesm think Merrill Lynch, Barclay's bank, Shin Corp) at the expense of the average Singaporeans.
See this crap?
At least three power generating companies are now foreign owned and the money that you pay for electricity goes to China, Japan and Malaysia because we have traitors of the country at the top.
BETTER HOARD YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!

Not when the local economy is based on international trade... What kind of idiot are you? The locals hoard but the local economy is based on international trade which means hoarding will never work as inflation cannot be locally controlled.
Pls bring it to the next level..
BUY PRECIOUS METAL.
We can also help the economy by favoring local produce. Simply go down Geylang and bong local prostitutes. Always rmb to check for pink ICs before bong. Dun go for thai or msians.

You are so simple inded. Not 100% of the local economy is international trade. furthermore, lower prices here will help in international trade.
Every bit helps. People HOARDING their money will help the economy the cursed despot and his running dog cronies are treating as their own private money making machine, raising price all the time and not letting prices naturally fall in bad times, and the citizens can suffer for all they care.

How much of the percentage of Singapore's GDP is local trade? Hoarding will definitely screw only the hoarders.

and when business fell, the spending power was greatly reduced leading to a chain reaction of poverty creation, and as our money is seconded to foreign land, we may face a downgrade of sing dollars in near future.

They should look to the cursed despot and his asslicking running dogs like you for blame. Instead of ensuring that costs of doing business are low, they are trying to take as much money from the people and businesses as possible by keeping prices up.
The cursed despot need to keep prices up to make up for the tens of billions in losses in foreign lands. Only with high prices can they lose all that money to foreigners and still show a profit at Temasek.
To save businesses for the long term, everyone should just HOARD their money until prices come down. Businesses should HOARD their money as well until prices come down.
Prices need to come down even more, much more, its not getting better...
Gloomy US consumers clip housing recovery hopes
HOARD YOUR MONEY!!!!!
Continue to HOARD your money with the unrelenting H1N1 pandemic
Remind your friends and family to do the same and help bring costs in Singapore down!!!! To HOARD their money!!!
Only a few people can really hoard (save) money in any significant way. Most of the people are spenders. It has been like that since the beginning for time. You can scream until you're red in the face and the credit cards will continue to be swiped like it's going out of fashion. You can only advise and do it yourself. In the end, you'll have the last laugh. You're the one with money in the bank. You can then say, "I told you so."

Too much saving is also no good for life, some people are rich, but never live like a rich person, alway worrying about losing money, thrifty, worrying about investment and property, worrying about who will take his money, who is going to cheat his/her money, money is the pride of his life, in the end, he goes with nothing.
I should say that we should spend and enjoy the fruit of our success, go see the world and have fun, save only enuf for raining day, and that will be good enuf. Saving dun move the economy, it only lower interest rate.

Agree with your comments but today in Singapore the problem is many are saving too little, not saving too much.

No, they should look for AndrewPKYap for screwing things up by suggesting consumers to hoard instead of spending wisely on essential goods.

Singapore as a whole are good saver, that is why our economy is still holding on, peoples are taking advantage of this downturn to buy cheaper goods out of their years of saving, but to some who dun save or unable to save, please dun get into a shopping spree just because the goods and products are cheaper today. It will be a total diseaster for these group to overspend what they couldn't earn.
To young singaporeans like me, most are spending tomorrow money. That is credits and Loans. The saving culture is loosing it grip on them unlike their parents who inherited the saving habit since young, eg POSB etc etc..and who can blame them when today even POSB had gone privatisation, no more a piggy bank

i am saying that today we youngs are spending tomollo earn money, so called as accrued expenditure, they have yet to earn what is enuf to equal their spending, so instead of talking about saving, we are talking about credits. Intangible will turn tangible one day...nothing escape the books, just a matter of time.
