MOM is covering up? Doubt Singapore is immuned to these turmoil? You mean so far only DBS affected, DHL? US company are into hire & fire...so they will not spare forigners...especailly US company here. They would prefer to protect their own skins...1st

IR looking for 60,000 jobs...so please hor, we are still very short of labour. And Unemployement is at 3%++, most are retirees and old peoples who just dun wan to work, sit on coffee shop and chat with PRC gals, ah longs, bookies, pimps, daily contract workers... -

Aiya, Uncle u dunno meh, pros at coffee shop cross their legs from left leg to right leg one, it is an indication of saying she is open for business, all are welcome, then once the deal is set, she will uncross her legs and tell people that she is booked, no available ya.As for normal gal, like me and auntie Jerry, we should cross from right to left and shake the left legs, me learned all these in my Joo Chiat and geyland coffee shops, last time many men came and asked me how much, how long, with or without condom...??? wha lau, until a chinese PRC pros started to teach me, lucky lor.

i am not sure if you really know how a US company works....each US company locally is a subsidiary, most subsidiaries have possibly more than 95% locals (including Malaysians) working. in a retrenchment exercise, due to the shear number of non-American citizens, obviously, numerically speaking, this group will be axed.
also, it must be noted, that a US citizen working in a subsidiary may not be counted as a local head-count and usually may not be counted in the retrenchment exercise.

well, the jobless rate will be worse come 4Q08 and 1Q09.
anyway, in american the data of jobless are more accurate compare to singapore.
Because in USA, if they are jobless they can claim benefits.
In singapore, the jobless rate are not accurately reflected as many uncles and untties have already giving up working.
