Want to lower unemployment rate?
I have an idea. Nothing novel or great. But still an idea. Tell me is this is correct :
On paper unemployment rate means what?
To me, it means number of people :
- either not being employed after a certain number of months in a row or
- someone not registered with a business.
There you have it. The 'solution' is right in front of you - if more JOBLESS people go and register a business , either sole proprietorship or pte ltd or LLC , he is officially not UNEMPLOYED ?
IF above is true, then would encouraging all youth and jobless and retirees to register a simple business not reduce , if not lower the unemployment rate to a big fat ZERO? Of course, this is merely ON-PAPER thingie.
The thing about what you see on paper and what is reality can be different or not?

How to encourage people to register :
1. show storys many storys about how young people go from rags to riches. Try not to show the failures examples.
2. continuous story telling is key. every week and every now and then , tell this story, newer stories. Paint the beautiful picture.
3. Have more tv programs to tell the success stories and less failure stories.
4. Repetition is important.
There you have it. My proposed 'solution' to show a lower unemployment rate.
Feel free to comment if this is feasible.
There are employers who employ citizens to do nothing by paying them only CPF, and no salary, although on paper, there is.
So they meet the local to foreigner ratio quota, and hey voila, we see lower unemployment rates!
Some stupid forumer who thinks he is smart told me it is illegal, and when challenged to prove it is, he went to email MOM and IRAS. Yet till now, he has no concrete reply from his email to show that it is indeed illegal. Loophole in the system being exploited.
