GST should be reduced

I think its time to reduce the GST. It should be 5 maybe 3%.

The GST was raised to help the poor.
It will definitely be raised to 10% next year as there are more poor.
More poor
= Less people paying tax and utilities and town council fees and TV licenses and property tax and fines and credit card and housing loans.
= Less money going to the poodles.
If that is definitely the scenerio, then where will the hip hop poodles get their pay since they are not reducing their salary ?
The million dollar poodles are more important.
So, the increase for the GST will be implemented.

It is with this mindset that the erection will come very soon.
The true situation of the world economy is in a bad shape.
It will hit sg in the mid of 2009.
By then, you will see lots of people roaming the street.
Huge company will use the recession as a lame excuse to increase their profits through active reduction of their man power.
Start surfing the news about the US economy and you will understand how bad the situation are.
The 70 cents paper does not cover the truth enough.

PAP needs to help more poor, so going by the past logic of helping the poor is by raising the GST, then yes, we should have 10% GST!

Help lower the cost of living ... (Send a simple email:) depending on the despots to lower the cost of living is like asking the tiger not to eat you after you jump into the enclosure..

1 thing you can be sure of is they wont increase the GST till the next election is over. remember that the GST offset is over a period of 4 years. so every year people will think that the govt is giving us money to help us. but when the next election over, GST might go up again together with your transports fare.

Yes, GST should be reduced. But but, first the ministers must have pay cut, it is ridiculous that they still continue to draw such obscene pay during recession.

and you forgot to mention that their salaries are much higher then us.
and their taxes are really put to good use instead of using on investments. then investments made money, they keep. lose money nvm, they take more from the citizens to cover back.
no different from a worthless son coming home everyday to beat his parents up to get more money for his gambling addiction.

I am not wrong, during the rise of GST from 5% to 7%, someone from the parliament mentioned that the rise is due to the good economics. Since Singapore (then) had a good economics, they will rise the GST and backup the money for crisis. During crisis, they would then drop the GST accordingly to meet the needs of Singaporeans.
