ha ha ha ha, very funny.
HDB flats property tax range from few bucks to ten plus---per month.
try getting the ghamen to waive loh.......... property aso not belong to peasants here. Those are HDB ones...
Err.. not happy with the current situation, just sell the HDB and rent?
Then let the "buyer" of the HDB pay the property tax?
whichever way peasant still stand to lose. u dont pay tax but pay for rental same... more jialak
Hmm... but in life there is nothing free right? If I want a place to live, I have to either own it or rent it from someone right?

You need to take into account average salaries/wages (in their currencies as well). However, this is still simplistic because other factors like GST, petrol tax, average price of food, etc etc, all comes into account.
Ultimately, as pointed out by M13, it's where the money went to that counts the most.
of course it is, so is kpkb about property tax alone. that's why I said we cannot look at one tax item in islolation and not the whole tax system.
m13 said the higher taxes in Singapore collected go to pay for the multi million dollars salaries of the ministers, blah blah blah....is it not simplistic?
when taking into account of the average salaries/wages plus tax, you also have to consider how much you pay in each place for a simple meal, then you consider the space you have in a city vs that in the country side, then again ... can we ever find a way to compare the costs and benefits of living in any two different places?
There will always be pros and cons, and not everybody is born with silver spoon, look more at the positive sides and you will be happier. Those losers who find fault will never be happy.
A better comparison would be to find out how much you have to pay and what property tax and other taxes you have to pay to live in a 5 rooms apartment of about 1000sq. in Singapore, London, Sydney and Vancouver/Toronto, or LA?

I thought page 2 last post, you were the one talking about property tax in UK, Australia and Canada? I see! After you found out about your folly, you sidetrack into something else, now you accused me of comparing different systems. ![]()
My replies to you were all about property taxes, the post which you have initiated. ![]()

Why nobody compare malaysia or indonesia property tax ? Are our standard of living as same as US, Canada, London ? do they have HDB flat?
Err... I don't understand what u are trying to say.
No law says I cannot sell my flat and then rent from others...
Yes, it is your choice to use your CPF to buy a property.
I can understand the idea that since the public is lessee of HDB flat, so they should not pay tax as they are not owner. But from what I read here, many other countries are doing it. We are just practising a legacy law.
On the other hand, if government tweaks this legacy law and losses the tax revenue from HDB dwellers, they can always find another method, eg get town councils to increase fee and then charge the town councils through some other fee??

you are welcome to compare malaysia or indonesia with Singapore, I won't cause I won't want to own any property there. It is easy and no headache to rent a nice place there.
