What I am saying is that the word "Opposition" is a misnomer in Parliament.
In the wards, who would be the "Opposition" to Mr Low Thia Khiang, and Mr Chiam See Tong?
Both the incumbent ruling party and the other parties should be working together towards the betterment of Singapore. That is something your delusional ego cannot accept.
You are stuck on the word "oppose".
So wtf is wrong with the opposition in Singapore?
Frankly, you, and the likes of you.
You said: "Both the incumbent ruling party and the other parties should be working together" and you simply assume that to oppose, that to be the "opposition" is not working for the good of the country.
The opposition in Singapore should be much stronger to benefit the country. Otherwise, you have what you are seeing now, a country run be despots bent of taking as much money from the people as possible and grabbing as much public money for their own pockets as possible.
In the process, they run the economy into ruin and lose up to a hundred billion in their gambling addiction.

If you wish to know the origins of the term "Opposition" in the terms used in a democratic parliamentary system, you could have used Google to help you find it.
Here is a sample:
Yes, in more mature democracies, both the incumbent ruling party and the "other parties" should be working together for the sake of the country - not just Singapore only - as can be seen from the mature parliamentary democracies that share our model and include : Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and UK.
Even in democracies that are variations to the Parliamentary system - like that of Japan, and USA, co-operation exist in the assigned committees with active participation by members from all political parties.
It is the responsibility of the incumbent ruling party to set the tone for the kind of political co-operation that you envisage.
Unfortunately, in all the 51 years that the Singapore incumbent ruling party has held on to political power, they have tinkered with the Singapore Constitution and all forms of Public Institutions that allowed in themselves being entrenched permanently at the expense of the interest of all Singaporeans.
In the wards of Low Thia Kiang and Chiam See Tong, surely the "Opposition" are the two gentlemen who were nominated as candidates by the Incumbent Ruling Parties and lost the elections to the two successful incumbents from the "Other Parties".
"So wtf is wrong with the opposition in Singapore?"
The answers do not lie with other people but on oneself.
Can there be anything "wrong with the opposition in Singapore" when the essence of the Opposition depends on the Citizens themselves ?
Can there be anything "wrong with the opposition in Singapre" - when one is not even prepared to speak one's own mind for oneself, nor can one accept those who are more willing to speak their views, feelings, and opinions that may not necessarily follow the incumbent ruling party ?

Unfortunately, you're addressing this to ignoramuses who are alien to the concepts of registering protest votes, subscribing to the rule of law (with an independent Judiciary) and understand the need for checks and balances.

Right, completely propaganded silliporeans... by dishonorable cursed people.
Hokkie say Chwee Kong Lan Pa Song....
actually, what is wrong with the opposition?
simple..
the goodwill earned by quiet and hardworking opposition people is squandered by the attention seeking antics of a few...
those who quietly go about helping the people then earn this goodwill back just to be squandered again by stunts which do no one any good except to draw attention to the stupidity of that few...
this goes on and on until the attention-whores dip into the well one too many times and the reserves of goodwill of the Singaporeans.. those whom the attention-whores profess they "serve" run out...
and the result is a cynical population, distrusting of anyone who calls themselves "opposition" and disgusted by the MIW...
the MIW could not have done better...
so the long and short of what is wrong with the opposition in Singapore?
idiots like andyboy, PAPboy and mostly, MIW moles like CSJ and Gomez

...teddy bear, teddy bear... you are so guillable... if you think being "quiet and hardworking" will get the opposition anywhere...
...why would senile old cursed despot bother to shut down newspapers, arrest editors, sue international press organisations if being "quiet and hardworking" will work?
He does that to stop the opposition from, for example, informing the people, the electorate, how, if it were up to them, they would run the economy or tackle the current mess created by the cursed despots.
According to atobe... the opposition have strategies and comments but people must go and look for it...
- the current mess created by the cursed despots.
.....This whole mess is created by the Americans, you seemed to have an inflated opinion of how much Singapore matters on the world stage.

The cursed dishonorable despots have no responsibility in Singapore's recession, retrenchments and slowdown?
Did you hear of retrencements in Kuala Lumpur?
Will you also say that the losses up to a billion dollars is not because of the stupidity, nepotism and cronysim of the senile old cursed ape, but because of the US problems?
You are delusional.
The US problem was a trigger to expose the greedy self-serving money grabbing policies of the despots... it could be any other trigger, you cannot blame it on the US problems.

considering the last election results between the vocal ones and the "quiet and hardworking" ones. i think "quiet and hardworking" is working better. but my criteria for the opposition "getting anywhere" is them holding on to their areas which might be different from your idea for success.
if jailtime's considered a measurement for success guess who's currently leading the pack?
