The opposition in Singapore should be much stronger to benefit the country. Otherwise, you have what you are seeing now, a country run be despots bent of taking as much money from the people as possible and grabbing as much public money for their own pockets as possible.
In the process, they run the economy into ruin and lose up to a hundred billion in their gambling addiction.

Can there be anything "wrong with the opposition in Singapore" when the essence of the Opposition depends on the Citizens themselves ?
Can there be anything "wrong with the opposition in Singapre" - when one is not even prepared to speak one's own mind for oneself, nor can one accept those who are more willing to speak their views, feelings, and opinions that may not necessarily follow the incumbent ruling party ?

the goodwill earned by quiet and hardworking opposition people is squandered by the attention seeking antics of a few...
those who quietly go about helping the people then earn this goodwill back just to be squandered again by stunts which do no one any good except to draw attention to the stupidity of that few...
this goes on and on until the attention-whores dip into the well one too many times and the reserves of goodwill of the Singaporeans.. those whom the attention-whores profess they "serve" run out...
and the result is a cynical population, distrusting of anyone who calls themselves "opposition" and disgusted by the MIW...

considering the last election results between the vocal ones and the "quiet and hardworking" ones. i think "quiet and hardworking" is working better. but my criteria for the opposition "getting anywhere" is them holding on to their areas which might be different from your idea for success.
if jailtime's considered a measurement for success guess who's currently leading the pack?
