OF THE 49,856 Primary 6 pupils who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) this year, 97.1 per cent passed and will go on to secondary school, said the Ministry of Education on Thursday.
The top student is Wee Yen Jean, 12, from Nanyang Primary School, with a T-score of 287.
MOE said 63.6 per cent of those who passed are eligible for the Express course, 21.6 per cent for the Normal (Academic) and 12 per cent for the Normal (Technical) course.
But 1,432 pupils, or 2.9 per cent, are assessed to be not ready for secondary school next year and more suited for vocational training.
Eligible pupils are given their option forms to select secondary schools from their respective primary schools on Thursday.
Parents can submit the school choices for their child online via the Secondary One Internet System that is accessible 24 hours from noon on Thursday to 3pm on Nov 26.
The Secondary 1 posting results will be released on Dec 18. Pupils are to report to their posted secondary schools at 8.30am on Dec 19.

sometimes i wonder, is it because they're not good enough to advance or the wrong teachers are teaching them? i've seen a few kids who should be able to advance but cannot understand the lesson because of the way its taught. some also require more attention.

The first rule of MOE is you do not ask questions about MOE.

I saw you stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You were wearing leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You climbed the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

It's for a greater good. The first soap was made from the ashes of heroes, like the first monkey shot into space. Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.
