If they think that he will be checking the accounts, not only is the people's endorsement pointless, he will be attacked and his character assasinated the way they assinated the character of Dr Chee Soon Juan.

Regardless of his intention, Singapore needs more not less brave people like him.
Regardless of his approach on the banking crisis, Mr Tan should be commended for his selfless effort.
Check and balance against excessiveness means speaking up when the situation calls for and Mr Tan has the guts to carry it out. -
Mr Tan had been running for INCOME for 30 years as CEO,since he was 29
years old.
I really cant understand :
1.Why did he suggest so many new stuff in insurance AFTER he stepped down?
Like he favours term insurance,kicking off agents from insurance!!Thousand of INCOME
agenst were feeding him in the past good 30 years----he seems foreget!!
2.In Every letter and insurance policy of INCOME,u can see his name!!

Mr Tan just lost my vote. If you want to be MP or President, just say so. Don't think and talk like a woman; wishy washy.
Need 100,000 signatures? Might as well say you need a guarantee that you'll win before you run. Scare of losing your deposit?
His words just gave Chua credit that he did have ulterior motives for helping.

- He must satisfy the Presidential Elections Committee that he is a person of integrity, good character and reputation.[12]
- He must not be a member of any political party on the date of his nomination for election.[13]
- He must have for a period of not less than three years held office —
- as Minister, Chief Justice, Speaker, Attorney-General, Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Auditor-General, Accountant-General or Permanent Secretary;[14]
- as chairman or chief executive officer of the Central Provident Fund Board, the Housing and Development Board, the Jurong Town Corporation or the Monetary Authority of Singapore;[15]
- as chairman of the board of directors or chief executive officer of a company incorporated or registered under the Companies Act[16] with a paid-up capital of at least S$100 million or its equivalent in foreign currency;[17] or
- in any other similar or comparable position of seniority and responsibility in any other organization or department of equivalent size or complexity in the public or private sector which, in the opinion of the Presidential Elections Committee, has given him such experience and ability in administering and managing financial affairs as to enable him to carry out effectively the functions and duties of the office of President.[18]

Use the PAP controlled State Times - Choose bad looking photos of opposition Members for coverage while PM Lee is always smiling. (well at least most of the time) =P

Mistakes and Boo Boos by PAP are usually mellowed down while the slightest mistakes by opposition are blown out of proportion. James Gomez forms incident and PM Lee's "fix opposition" quote are good examples.
3. Terror Tactics to scare out opposition
a) Defamation Lawsuits
b) Heavy bombing by States Times
c) Dig the entire life history and speeches of the candidate for character assasination. Only PAP can give their side of the story(e.g. Andrew Kuan, Tang Liang Hong)
These are continual tactics to give Singaporeans little choice in politics so that PAP can stay in power.

Hey, if i find one photo with PM Lee not smiling, your theory will be revoked. Simple rule, when in doubt, don't use absolute terms...

Anything we do, we must have a plan, if not you are seeking doom.
The best plan is always one that you have not thought about while you carry out your previous plan. The best idea/creativity is usually one that just pop out of nowhere.
Mr Tan's initial plan was to help those mis-sold investors. Now there are many people who are asking him to be President and why not? If he had gathered enough support he will succeed.
Obama has a plan to become president. PAP has a plan to pick out their own candidate to stand for elections too! Whether you support him or not is your choice.

To me whether it is Tom, Dick or Harry as President, does not affect me. But it is refreshing to see Singaporean coming out of the grassroot for public service.
Good for long-term nation building, to see people volunteering rather than from govt 'approved' or 'sanction' avenue. -
