Singapore, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday night that the Singaporean woman taken hostage at a luxury Mumbai hotel has been killed.
She is Lo Hwei Yen, a 28-year-old Singaporean lawyer, said Jai Sohan Singh, Director of the Consular Directorate of Singapore's Foreign Ministry, at a news conference.
Her body was identified by her husband Michael Puhaindran, who had flown out to Mumbai on Thursday night,
Indian authorities had found her body on the 19th floor of the Oberoi Hotel.
She had gone to Mumbai on a business trip on Wednesday morning, but found herself trapped when terrorists overran the hotel.
Singh added there are no more Singaporeans stranded in any of the hotels in Mumbai.

the suicide bomber wan aim the americans...
how she got kill??
i think it's very sad that something like this happened.
it's one of those things that we always see on TV and not really care until it's someone that's actually one of us.
I think the country should offer military help in a situation like this. I mean it's good to respect the indians and trust their military, but i think there's a responsibility of our nations armed forces to protect our own interest.
but i guess it all happened too fast. one moment we heard she's taken hostage, one moment she's been killed. condolences to the family and those that know her.

these are not suicide bombers they stay, seek and kill as many as possible until they got shot. That is their only purposes.
it is truly sad that she was taken out before her time.
The terrorists were probably trying to use Singapore as a leverage through her to prevent the Indian security forces from storming the hotel. It didn't work, because the stiuation then was "fluid" and fast moving.
Poor gal, she's a victim of sense-less killing by brainwashed religionists.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim. Indeed, it is a shame that something like that has happened to one of our own, it paints for us the stark realities of the word we live in, especially for us as Singaporeans.
1st time i've heard of a sg'ean getting killed in a hostage situation overseas.

The Indian military talks big like nobody's business. No expertise in handling hostage situation yet wanna act garang and take charge. Let the Israelis or Americans take over before more innocent lives are lost.
No country wants to look bad in such a situation. I'm sure the Americans and Israelis and other foreign intelligence agencies are working behind the scenes to support these operations.

But the problem is, will Indian forces listen to them?
They sunk a Thai fishing ship and killed most of the crew. What are they trying to do? Just becos they sustain some fire from that suspect ship. U can fire at yr own will and destroy everything infront??
Terrorist holding hostage, firing a few shot and u fire back all yr shots at no cost?
I was heard she was killed as Indian forces refused to refrain from storming the hotel...

I'm sure we'll get more detailed portrayals of the incidents in the days and weeks and months ahead. I just hope and I'm sure all of you do for the safe release of the rest of the hostages irregardless of the means undertaken to accomplish that purpose. I think it is also a reminder to us Singaporeans of the dangers of the world we live in, that not everywhere is like home. We have to be more shrewd and aware of our surroundings, and not just take for granted that everything will be fine.
i read up about the trainings of commandos of various countries. the ones that have the most stringent trainings are the Israeli troops. they have a do-or-die mentality and dogged determination to fight on, even at the expense of their own safety. on the other end of the spectrum are the indian commandos whose training are the slacket, run 3km, do 11 chinups at one go, 35 pushups in 2 minutes. training is so much easier that it does not take much effort to enter the commandos. also, the pay is much lower than those of american commandos and the indian commandos, or rather, most of them are unwilling to lay down their lives for the peace and security of the nation.
