they deserve that kind of salary.
who can actually come up with the idea of increasing gst to help the poor?
who can up tariff by 22% and yet make its citizen 'agree'?
who can lose billion and billions in investment and claimed they are seeing long term?

The price that people to fix this crisis is in trillion of dollars!!

If the figure is annual pay,i will feel more scare!!

Singapore has only close to 4.5million population. Selecting the top few as leaders of the country is really an uphill task And the top few would rather serve and work in a big organisation like General Electric or Windows to earn big money. Who would ever want to serve the people in such a small country? But selecting people from China and America is a real easy task. They have so many able people, how about Singapore? 4.5million, partly make up of foreigners, how to survive like that? High pay will be the solution to retain these talents. Not only high pay, these leaders are selected based on their interest too. Being able and passionate towards politics, they can then be only serve the country with pride and honour.

interest? yeah right. interest in sucking it citizens of their money for their gambling debts. and not to forget their interest in getting their high salaries.
pride and honour? you mean if getting a pay of 500k per year = no pride in their job?
must be a few millions then got pride? then i would suggest he get a salary of 10 billions per year lor. by that time, you see how they squeeze dry its people.
I think he should cut his own salary and donate the rest to us, the people equally after seeing how some families are living from the programme Life Transformers.

This is very skewed logic.
Why do you think people would not want to serve in a small country? I do not see your point.
And you agree that to pay a country leader of 4.5million 3-4 times more than the leader of the largest economy in the world is justifiable?
No wonder the PAP can take $$$ from us and eat us inside out, and they can still be in power. It's becoz of people like you who use skewed logic to justify the stupidity of our actions.

we can imagine how LHL is so out of touch of our Singapore life by saying "Mee Siam, MAI HUM"

Oh by the way, this was AFTER the 19% pay cut.
Singapore is the top 3 in alot of stuff in the world.
First in terms of PM's pay.
First in terms of the number of PMs (MM, SM, PM)
Second in terms of the % rise of electrical tariffs. First was New York, while Hong Kong actually had a 3% reduction.
Vote for the PAP in the next election...
and get screwed for the next 5 years!
