yar, can make friends and do have friends of other races, but I think for a life partner I'll definitely go for a person of the same race. . sorry, I'm not so erm. . . modern. . .
and about your friend. . . which country does he come from? many countries don't even have IC. . .

It is more important that two persons are able to communicate, respect one another as Human Beings (not race), and more importantly the desire to be responsible for the well being of a long term relationship.
Problems do exist even when one marry another person from the same race or dialect group.
Perhaps inter-racial marriage will heighten the awareness and the importance of the effort from both parties in coming together.
About the "Race" classification in the Identity card, it would have sounded better if the term "Ethnicity" was used - but can someone "who dropped out of school early", understand this word.
