dr tony tan said ytd that the 4th uni will have US and china's involvement. he cited reasons like china's growth bla bla bla...
i think it's justifiable, and given that such interests are long term it may be useful to have such connections in future.
but for now? is it too soon for 4th uni to have china's involvement? when it's education system is still not exactly mature and recognised? it might even impair the uni's devt in its early years.
I think the reason why you think it will "impair" the Uni development while Dr TonyTan think it will "benefit" the Uni development, is because, the two of you have different understanding and concepts.
But I trust Dr Tony Tan more.
Anyway, I think the involvement that was mentioned is more towards acamedia/ faculty only. I could be wrong though, not sure whats the details.

...foreign ass licking dogs will always be foreign ass licking dogs in all their policies... take money from silliporeans and lose it to foreigners.

It's alright, cos they just needed dumb Singaporeans to test out their newly developed education collaboration with US and China.
Unless even the Ministers of Parliament themselves also sent their own children to partake in this 4th University's education collaboration, I don't think it's fair for them to encourage dumb & eager to achieve success Singaporeans to waste their precious youth time like some lab rats. ![]()
But of course, government may tell you all the benefits and advantages, but I'm also sure that the government would also like all Singaporeans to be able to cultivate their own keen sense of judgement and figure out the weaknesses and disadvantages for themselves.
Afterall, they are smart enough to attend University, they should also be smart enough to have develop an independent mindset to analyse and think for themselves.
I hope people who attended Universities are really smart people. But so far, I have yet to meet or know any of such people. ![]()
what i'm thinking, is that instead of giving sound advice they scam us off another few billions like suzhou again.

China education system not exactly mature? You must be joking, we might not be able to survive in it!
I don't understand why our ministers love foreigners so much.
Same reasons as why Singaporeans don't want to be Singaporean so much.

I'm sure the government also knows the fact that people loves and would trust to place their faith in a public face who would be more convincing than the rest.
Maybe you can think why they don't ask other people to make that statement?
I won't eat McDonalds if the icon isn't a Clown and KFC if the icon isn't an old man.
Face is more important than facts.
One good thing of having a new university here linked to china university is to attract china students to study here. In a way, to earn their money lah.
If these people stay here or even convert to citizenship, government will be happy because these kind of people like government and PAP that's why they want to stay. In a way, it will strengthen PAP power.
Even if they go back to China, they may already establish a link with Singapore. In a way, it will help to bring closer economy ties between the 2 countries.
Or better still, brainwash them make them more inclined towards singapore, and let them go back china and join the politics.
Singapore needs foreign talent cus we are too small to sustain our KBE.

isn't NTU already doing the job of being "university of china singapore branch"?
My personal opinion is that it is better not to have another university.
In my opinion, I am worried it will bring unintended consequences.
It will bring a dilution and dissipation of intellectual resource.
It is better to consentrate, pollinate, nurture, consolidate, network, and build up a critical mass in a few universities.
Even SMU is still questionable to me. They could have put the same thing and same program, same faculty, within NUS.
But no, they separate and become isolationist.
It also dilute and canibalize NUS business school.
Is that good thing or bad thing? I dont know, but I have a feeling it will be better if they try to put it within NUS.
And now they want to make a 4th university.
I am still not sure whether a very good 2-universities, well integrated, is not a better option.
