Agree. The true depth of the problem in Taiwan and S.Korea is to the point of policy making paralysis from opposition parties and interest groups.
From my perspective, a lot of Singapore's policy making aims to avoid such paralysis, which makes it a bit more efficient in terms of passing bills. However, the drawback is also equally serious. Sometimes, its too efficient and bills are passed without sufficient consideration and possibly on a whim.

Sometimes even a bad decision is better than no decision.
The govt recently got asked the public for feedback on some propsed bills but sometimes the decision such as investment in banks has been a lousy decision
resulting in bug losses.

that is the problem, over dependency on govt, all must get spoon feeded by them then can survive. Money in your pocket, why let them decide for you on where to park it. Be true to yourself, when you lost, admit you make the decision and not the govt, you cannot blame the govt if you need them to feed you.

Doesn't really help that our ministers can really make some stupid comments.
minister = what they say goes so long as the others agree with them
citizens = discriminated because they don't have any political power or are seen as children over the much experienced political leaders.
eg. have u noticed tat 90% of our suggestions aren't taken into consideration (include the good ones and bad ones). This is because singaporeans we're KIASU including the government and they want their face so they can't think of something as good as you some of them plainly do not want to admit it and thus not give it consideration.
outwardly we may look democratic but if u looked closer/deeper we are not
sg last 43 years straight political stability was maximum stability due to basically no competition .
Talk about what thing here....? Give some points then we can discuss......No introduction, how to talk.....
SIngapore Political is fragile .
All it takes is for Poh Ah Pak to have lots of children and their children have lots of children and continue for a few generations for them to take over the singapore government.
1) Kill competition – create many MP seats so that oppositions cannot make up the number.
2) No free speech – to block negative remarks.
3) Control the Workers’ Union – assign a minister as chairman of the Union.
4) Illegal gathering law – so that people cannot group together in public.
5) Protest approval law – If people gather and protest without approval, they will be charged under the illegal gathering law.
6) “Yes” people – Must get 66.6% of the citizens to say “Yes”. This is most difficult part and also the reason why other countries cannot succeed.
Every change of political power will create a choatic and a backdate of the enconmy especially to a long ruling party. Just like indonesia, after Suharto step down, the country seems collapse, but has now back to the right track once again and in fact better. And also only when Suharto has lost his power, then we have managed to know how corrupted he and party are.
In most countries, the president can only be elected for 2 season the most and they will have to step down. This can actually prevent the powerful man to abuse his power by clearing all his oppose during his time of ruling. And also an reminder that he will not be always so "powerful" as he will be back to common people one day. This I think can help to make him think twice and dare not do foolish thing during his ruling period.
Just my thoughts.
