Bias of western medias--why not report 30 Oz ATM blown up?
Population of Oz is 21 million,4.4 times of SG of 4.8 million
If one ATM is blown up in Singapore,i am sure it will be widely reported in western
medias,who are hungry about interesting news in this boring but safe city.
I do not report Oz ATM blown up when it first happened about one month ago.
I have yet to see how western medias report them.
So far, i have yet to read any of their reporting.
u can see the news from Google by searching Australia + ATM
Why no body report any ATM blown up in Oz--more than 30 cases?
Is it very common in Oz,like Aids in Afracia?
Or like drugs killings in Mexico?
I dunt know the baseline or guidelines of western medias
how to select news in certain countries and make it
a international news.

I think Oz is labelled as a Beach and Sun country .
No serious crimes shall be reported.Any reporting of serious crime
will make readers uncomfortable.That is ,no market for bad news
about Oz.But there is a very high demand of bad news about SG.
The country editor and HQ editor of western medias like
SG nad news very much.This is a damn boring country
with less than 5 cases of crimes involving guns,in a year.
Again,they will make sure any gun shot in SG will make
a head line.But they turn a blind eyes to frequent drive by shooting in Oz!!

BOQ EMILY BOURKE: Last night a family of four were lucky to escape after their weatherboard home was sprayed with dozens of bullets. A three-year-old boy suffered a bullet graze.
Superintendent Mark Cooper says police are still investigating.

Professor Arthur Veno is based at Monash University in Melbourne and is an expert on bikie gang culture. He says the war mentality of the clubs is at the core of the problem.
ARTHUR VENO: So far there's actually been no actual loss of life but you know the clubs pose a very real risk of escalating past that.
The Perth war for example, a 10 year war, that surrounded the Club Deros and Coffin Cheaters over there, that was tit-for-tat and it started out in this fashion and it worked up to bigger and bigger things with many, many murders.

U read about the attempted robbery at one of the UOB branches? Singapore also got report that there is a dangerous block where crimes often happened until
one of the residents during interview said he might want to move out of the area. Singapore is also not totally safe either.

Did i say SG is crime free.This is just LOW crimes,only
90 % crime rates lower than Oz major cities,in cases per 100,000.
pl note i am not talking about absolute figures.
i am talking crimes per 100,000 people.
If there is ATM blown up in SG,it is a headline in western medias.
But they think it is not a news when it happen for more than 30
times in Oz.Why so funny?
