By 2061, we will have developed our own desalination plant to cover the entire local population though the costs will be high...and we have newater to suppliment this as well.
Our govt has probably already realised that Malaysia will cease supply from then onwards so this comes as no surprise.
So no worries abt then. We have that angle covered. -

Dun need too, they do it themselves pretty well... Their affirmative action policy is like a bad check they keep cashing from bank to bank to bank. They think they're delaying the unavoidable conclusion that their special privillages are not helping their people improve but instead making them more and more complacent. It can't be done forever, with every new policy they put in place to seal up the leaks resulting from this grotsque malformed stillborn of an idea, they are only hitting themselves and pushing their people further into complacency and the disenfranchised people further from them. After being exposed to be the culprits behind the delays in settling the water pricing issue, and being embarrassed into silence by the release of Government-to-Government correspondences that exposed themselves to be unreliable negotiating partners, the Malaysian Prime Minister confirmed that Malaysia will continue to supply water after 2061.
However, he qualify the condition of supply will be based on TREATED Water, and not RAW Water.
So it appears now that the Malaysian would like to regain the high moral ground, which they lost when Singapore forced their hand with the release of all communications to put to rests the large volume of misleading information fed to the Malaysian Public.
Some Malaysians have felt embarrassed by their Government's childish and selfish actions, and there is a ground swell of public opinion against these UMNO Political Leaders, from the NON-Bumiputra and NON-UMNO Communities.
Singapore must question "if Singapore should continue to depend on the supply of Treated or Raw Water from Malaysia?".
This question has to be addressed, as it is public knowledge that there are Senior Malaysian Military Leaders who expounded the strategy of POISONING the water supply to Singapore, as they acknowledge that the MAF will never win a war against the SAF.
Malaysia will force us to reject the supply of water by quoting us a ridiculously high price, which can only result in an abrogation of any future agreement from OUR own initiative.
The Malaysian Government will feel absolve and beyond condemnation.
Such is the guile of the UMNO Politicians in perpetually trying to put Singapore in a corner.
We will have to prepare ourselves from being boxed in, by conducting all our actions based on a strategy of
"Thinking-out-of-the-Box" and going Global.
We shall by-pass all the obstacles put up by the Malaysians, and encircle them with our own Global Affirmative Actions. -
