Same thing, just that the difference is in the celebrity status...
Based on the continuous broadcast by CNN and BBC World News, it seems that when the Space Shuttle took off about 2 weeks ago, some debris from the fuel tank had fallen off and hit the "insulation tiles" below the Space Shuttle.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:hmm, sorry, i am abit out of date with the news. what happened to these ppl?![]()

What celebrity status?
They were not movie or pop stars?
Show some respect to this bunch of 5 Men and 2 Women, who were brave enough to accept the risks, and move into outer space to conduct scientific experiments for the benefit of human kind.
They were all ordinary men and women, but with extra-ordinary qualifications in scientific research, and could have simply stayed in the safety of their laboratories to conduct experiments.
This is no commercial joy ride on an ordinary commercial plane that suffered some maintenance mishap.
All the space flights are filled with danger, as they are propelled into space by highly explosive fuelled rocket engines, and return to earth in a dangerous heat searing re-entry with temperatures that reach over 3000 degrees Celcius.
[b]Whether it is an ordinary jet crash that takes a few hundred lives or just this 7 lives, your non-chalant attitude is repulsive, to say the least !!

Brave people? Does it make a difference when you're nothing more then a passanger in a gliding brick... maybe if they blew themselves up trying to divert an asteriod or something. Otherwise, their deaths are tragic, but not big news in all of humanity. The larger concern is probably in the technically of the accident, and it's implications for future space travel. Will more people die? yes, will we mourn any more special for them? Many more have made bigger sacrifices and have been unsung. Just go to any war memorial.
Bah, some civillians dying in pursit of ambition and doing their country proud. I tell you, the GI who leaves his homeland to put life and limb in danger fighting in some freezing foxhole and wistanding appaling conditions for freeing the world of Nazi tyranny only to recieve no more then a telegram to his family and a tiny white cross memorial in a vast sea of many more who fell along with him is so much more worthy to be sung of. Those astronauts had it easy.
