With the announcement published in 2007 that the ‘Singapore’s government ministers to get pay raise of more than 60 percent by 2008’ - even a 20 percent deduction will leave the ministers with 40 percent in their pocket.
As matters stand, the 60 percent increase was to be made in two parts, with the second part held up towards end-2008, the ministers had already received 30 percent for at least all of the 12 months in 2008.
This deduction of 20 percent will still leave the ministers a 10 percent net raise when most Singaporeans have lost their jobs, or seen their wage shrunk.
So much for the talents recruited with the huge salaries pegged to the 10 top highest paid executive posts in Singapore.
Those CEOs risks being
is that retroactive deduction all the way back to....2005

We will be lucky if they count backwards to January 2008.
Seriously, if Obama - paid only 25 percent of LHL's annual wages - has set himself the target of resolving the crisis in two years; surely we should expect the highly paid talent in LHL to resolve our problems much earlier in three quarter time earlier than Obama ?
Otherwise, why are we paying our PM a wage that is six times more than the US President ?
Obama caps executive pay tied to bailout money
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama on Wednesday imposed a $500,000 cap on senior executive pay for the most distressed financial institutions receiving taxpayer bailout money and promised new steps to end a system of "executives being rewarded for failure."
Again the lower paid US President is showing his talent in less rewarding ways but still do not shirk his responsibilities.
Our Singapore Government should be less bashful and take a leaf out from Obama's textbooks on an "Idiot's way to manage your way out of the economic downturns".
LKY and Sons have shown their preferred tastes for high Ministerial wages in the propaganda that was created to ease their conscience for taking so much.
Now that the Singapore Reserves has been drawn down to bail out this government from its amateurishp handling of the economy, they should consider taking a hefty pare down to their huge salary.
in sg, we only learn stuff that benefits the govt from other countries...

Which goverment in the world implement policies that don't benefit itself or the country? Isn't a government that don't do that a stupid and ineffective government? How should the government work than, come up with policies that will cause chaos, or cause the government to fail?

What ???!!! Contribute into their treasury ??
We should boycott TOTO and 4D - as the permutations is weighted in favor of the Government taking all the bets and letting perhaps a handful of about less then 100 persons to share a miserly amount.
Imagine about almost 1 million persons paying to place their bets, and each spending anywhere from $2 to $100 - can one imagine the amount collected compared to the winning amounts paid out ?
This is another money raking in scheme.

That apparently is their reasoning:
There is an inverse relationship between high pay and corruption. ![]()
