Reminds me of how during WWII, the Japs published news of their "victories" everyday even though they were pummeled like hell.
don't believe. ST is under their control, they can say whatever they want.
uhh.. there might actually be 30,000 new jobs...
but that's all.. there maybe 60,000 people losing jobs.. there may be 100,000 people vying for the 30,000 jobs..
never question the factual nature of ST.. they're damned good at it..
however, how it is reported.. that's a different thing..
hell! the opposition has tried to use this too.. but they aren't that slick at it...
30,000 new jobs indeed.
Yes, it would be better if they release the type or nature of the jobs generated.
Afterall, toilet cleaning is also job.
i believe.
Maybe LKY decides to retrench all those foreign workers working at construction sites. Then Singaporeans will have 30K new jobs.. as cleaners, sweepers, construction workers...
Whats wrong with being a cleaner, sweeper, construction worker when times are bad ?
Then again, what's wrong with being a cleaner, sweeper, construction worker when times are good ?
I can always claim 3,000 jobs created for a certain industry.
But who's going to really count and make sure that it is 3,000 jobs? ![]()

yes nowaday very hard to get jobs.
Is it fair to say this kind of rubbish without open your mind!!
Some jobs lost
some are created
This is damn important more jobs to be created than lost, dear!!
Open your mind first ,then your eyes.
read newspaper every saturday to see if PAP is telling rubbish,
or u saying rubbish.ok?
I think Jurong Hostiptal is too early. This should be the new Yishun
one.Also.IR are also recruiting.
u may say most of the jobs go to foreigners.
Ok.Let say one third to be filled by locals.
This is better than no new jobs lah.
U go to know hong kong better .Then u know how many new jobs
they create this year. Most new jobs come from HK gavaman spending,
unlike SG earning foreign currency, like IR and factory!!
Open your mind pl!!

Shut out all the propaganda... the important thing to do is to HOARD YOUR MONEY!!!
frankly, I am unsure why govt is painting such a grim picture over the last two weeks.
anyone who is on TV or net knows the economic world is literally on its knees.. so this constant barrage of how local economy is bad is driving me up the wall.
I am unsure whether this is to prepare for another lousy budget but somehow, I would prefer them to use the term "worst". And let's build from there.
Too much verbal vormit, and enough is enough..
30k job may be created but 25k will be paid a monthly salary of less than 2k.
lion, i would hv more confidence in watever the MPs say, if it's not because of the recent revelation that they view themselves as higher class people, and we're just lesser mortals to them.
the lack of empathy, and the obvious class discrimination, i don't think i can trust them anymore.
just like i read today about how the income gap in singapore is narrowing. they shld analyse the quantum of the gap to make sense of it all.
.....reminds me of the gold90 fm tv ad i saw last time. "hear only the good things".....

The top guys are taking pay cuts....large business owners are earning lesser....is it any wonder if the income gap has reduced?

i believe !!
Jobs like .. cleaners, waiters/waitresses, croupiers, construction workers....
A report from Credit Suisse estimates that 300,000 jobs would be lost. Replaceing 30,000 is but a fraction of the amount.
Fortunately, the report also mentioned that the bulk of the losses would be our dear FTs.

One economist reported in the papers say it is to give the government reason to use the reserves.
The state media is just doing its job. ![]()
We need not guess guess.
Just have to ask ourselves:
1. How can we know exactly what kinds of jobs are created, everyone of them?
2. How can we know exactly how many of these jobs are created?
3. How can we know exactly how many jobs each company says they have vacancies?
4. How can we know , of these vacancies, how many are really filled up? Vacancy need not be filled up. Companies can quote any donkey reasons that they are hiring , interviewing but that does not mean there is a real vacancy. It could be for publicity that they are hiring and that is good for its image that it is still growing.
5. How can we know if Foreigners / citizens are filling up these jobs? Jobs created like hotel receptionists, waiters, cleaners, laborers, these add up to a sizable number of jobs. But tertiary grads are over qualified and not employed. Instead, mostly the eventual people employed can be foreigners. Why hire a citizen when u can hire for cheaper? lots are unemployed overseas. Its employers market.
I challenge anyone. Who can answer any of my questions?

Newscaster 1: "We don't fabricate the news, we just report it.... That's the government's job." - from V for Vendetta
I believed, but most of the jobs are cleaners, security guards, waiters, waitress, taxi drivers, hostesses and cooks.
