An ex-officer with the Strata Titles Board, STB, was charged in court today for two counts of cheating and one for providing false information.
The accused is 25-year old Hong Shihui, who worked as a Management Support Officer with the STB.
Ms Hong conspired with her colleague Rajasvarai Radhakrishnan, also known as Raji, to prepare two quotations for transcribing works in the name of Ms Hong's cousin.
The quotations were sent on 6 and 25 September 2005 to the Registrar of STB for approval.
The work was in fact done by Ms Raji and payments amounting to more than 10 thousand dollars were split between the accused and Ms Raji.
In November last year, Ms Raji was charged and subsequently convicted and sentenced to three months imprisonment.
During the course of investigation on February 2007, Ms Hong also gave false information to a CPIB investigator.
If convicted, she may be punished with a maximum of one year imprisonment, or with fine or both for each of the cheating offences.
For giving false information, she's liable to a fine not exceeding 10 thousand dollars or a maximum of one year imprisonment, or both.
