They are trying to capitalise on their proximity to Singapore and the success of Singapore's education (success insofar as results in international tests are concerned). I wonder if the Singapore government will do anything about it.
haha, how you know the malaysians haven't already bought such a url??Originally posted by Shotgun:Maybe we should respond with a little tit-for tat.

well, a lot of them "work" here anyway.
eh... nay... i may stop at nothing to make money, but i've got a sense of decency u know...Originally posted by Quad:Think of it this way, they were smart and cunning in business sense. One of the few pre-requisite in business world survival. Instead of condoming their actions, think of how we can do the same way thru legal means.

how would THEY like it if someone placed their flag and crest on a porn site!

smart and cunning is one thing... this is plain cheating. why call the site studysingapore.com when it is a site promoting education in malaysia? well, the operator may argue that they intend to include Sg institutions in future, but presently, the only have one participating institution and its in malaysia.
besides, if they were in a mind to expand in the future, why not register for www.studyasia.com outright? if the domain is not available, they could always go for another variation.
their current domain serves no other purpose than to mislead the gullible.
and why plaster pictures of the lion before their flag?
even though the lion is intended for informal use, i do believe that this contravenes the MICA guidelines for its use.
http://www.sg/flavour/symbol_guide_lion.asp
a few questions comes to mind now...
(1) did they ask permission to use it?
(2) if so, did they ask permission to modify it?
(3) where is the website hosted?
(4) can we get them to remove it?
well, we can't do much about the url, unless somebody decides to sue them for deceptive advertising.
but its obvious that they have not adhered to the forms of the guidelines in displaying OUR national symbol on the website.
this, i think, is a serious issue.

Agree. As I say, do it the legal way, but with ingeniunity. Sometime, you have to think crooked to reach an answer in business world.
There was a saying, circulating in the market. We produced scholars to run the system. Scholars are not natural enterprueners thus they think straight due to the teaching system, too sterotype and systematic that weeded out those who are not vested with scholastic skills. Bcos of straight thinking, they follow too closely to the procedures and systems due to teaching conditioning and thus now, we are in this state. They are not flexible enough to think laterally. Not my opinion but I somewhat agree with it. As the saying goes, think like a crook and beat the crook.
This incidence is still not serious enough as it was not commited by a govenment body. Moreover, there is no media reporting on this issue as well.u don't need the media to report something for it to be considered serious or worthy of the gov'ts attention. the use of national colours and symbols are controlled by regulations as i pointed out...
