Dan Fogelberg, just reminds me of Old Good Auld Lang Syne, that mirror what happen to me yesterday. Sigh..
ChannelnewsAsia reported that Malaysian PM Najib had commented that MAS was plotting to launch a hit on Singapore when he was arrested.
PM Najib also said that MAS had arrived into Malaysia ONE DAY after he escaped from the Whitley Detention Centre..... this is shocking news.
Is this disinformation, or is this detail accurate ?
Is it possible for MAS to make his way to the northern coastline within 24 hours after his breakout from the detention centre ?
This shows that MAS is a very, very resourceful person - to be able to organize himself in such desperate and pressing moments, even to make up an improvised flotation device to allow him to swim across the Straits of Johor.
The improvised flotation device can be anything from a plastic box to a bunch of plastic bottles tied together that will support the weight of his body when he decide to rest midway across the water channel.
I guess the improvised flotation device was cooked up as no one except mas know how he did it.
What would happened to some one's face if he was to moved out singapore through the 2nd link ?
What can I see on the media are:
- Some one coming forward to claim credit when it was not his. He was no where to be seen after 2 weeks when mas took his holiday.
- Some loopy fairy tale on how mas landed in mlysia without being detected.
- Lots of boot licking sms sent to some one.
- Conspiracy on mas planning some fireworks during his holiday. (WMD ??)
- Some one fighting for his bonus.
What was missing are:
- A big thank you to all the army guys and police men who braved the elements of nature to track down mas during that 3 months.
- A big thank you to our neighbours for ending the eat-wind trip of mas. (I have only read on how good our intelligence were and blab blab blab, no one was gracious enough to say thank you for the great assistence)
If Malaysian PM Najib statement that MAS arrived into Malaysia within ONE Day after breaking out from the Whitley detention Center - then either he drove through the Causeway or Tuas Checkpoints within the two hours before the general alert for an island wide clamp down was made.
The lorries and vehicles were not checked prior to the general alert being made.
With the audacity, daring, ingenuity and cunning that MAS has displayed, this could be true.
Given his nature, it will not be too far fetched to speculate that he was already planning to make a dramatic hit at Singapore.
Considering that this piece of information came from the Malaysian side, some credibility could be given to their press release.
LOL check out the difference between the Msian press and ours:
ST says:
“In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein on Friday confirmed that Mas Selamat has been captured and is being held under its Internal Security Act for interrogation.
‘He was planning something that allowed us to arrest him,’ said Mr Hishamuddin, declining to give more details on his arrest and whereabouts.”
Malaysiakini says:
“”Mas Selamat is under our detention and is being investigated right now. He was planning something which allows us to arrest him,” Hishamuddin told a press conference, without elaborating on those plans.
“We are becoming an expert on him so hopefully this time he won’t escape us, and the Singaporean experience will help,” he said of the Indonesian-born militant who has escaped custody several times.”
Singapore experience here probably means Singapore's cork-up in letting a terrorist escape.
CNAsia says:
“Mr Chia Wei Ping felt the authorities did well in tracking down the fugitive so quickly.
“Some fugitive go on the run for years and can’t be found. They did well in making sure he is caught before he causes any damage,” said the technical officer.”
Malaysiakini says:
“The affair made the strict city-state an object of ridicule and triggered a sweeping review of security measures.
Mas Selamat had not been formally charged at the time of his escape, and was being held under Singapore’s Internal Security Act which - like the Malaysian equivalent - allows for detention without trial.”
u know.....either WKS is a brilliant tactician or absolute clown.
MSK was captured on Apr 1 but on Apr 15, in a speech to the ISD, he mentioned that "MSK will be captured".
Furthermore, as reported in ST today, Msian PM Najib says he has already informed PM Lee during the Pattaya Summit on Apr 10-11 that MSK has already been captured.
So either WKS is exuding pure brilliance by throwing everyone off guard to ensure that the covert ops to capture MSK is a success OR he's a complete idiot being kept in the dark about everything because of the way he has bungled this issue.
Well, see what he says in the press the next few days. If he doesn't claim credit for smoking everyone's eyes, then....he's a complete idiot! haha
New Straits Times (Msia) says:
Yes, I can confirm he is in our custody and being investigated. He was planning something, which allowed us to arrest him," Hishammuddin said.
Asked whether Mas Selamat was planning to create unrest here, he replied:
"I can't go into details. It is too sensitive as it involves three parties and intelligence agencies from Indonesia, Singapore as well as Malaysia. This is something that I cannot say because it involves other people as well."
Will Mas Selamat be handed over to the Singapore authorities?
"We will talk to the Singapore as well as the Indonesian authorities.
"Our ties with Indonesia are very strong and without Indonesia's cooperation, I do not think we were able to make the arrest after his escape from Singapore."
poor mas selamat, once high flyer terrorist, now also out of job. But i hope he never gets re-employed ever. ![]()
We should not take Malaysiakini's statements as official version of any events - as their remarks are that of sideline observers, and are simply anti-establishment, and generally seldom echo the views of the common folks on their side of the border.
With all the mess created in 2008, and with the recapture of MAS - it is about time for WKS to squawk his swan song - if he can't sing one in tune - as a younger DPM TCH has been identified to hold this portfolio.
Based on past events in phasing out "sitting duck" Ministers - these will not be pushed out immediately after the embarrassing happening, but will be slowly withdrawn from the public eye at the next available opportunity.
This is to give them some 'face' in their remaining public life.
Remember the previous Minister of Transport YCT - who made so many disastrous policies worst, and at the same time having a wife conducting a disastrous public relations effort to shut the book “Escape from Paradise” from being sold in book stores around Singapore ?
Mas Selamat JI leader nabbed in Skudai
By LOURDES CHARLES and DHARMENDER SINGH
KUALA LUMPUR: Fugitive Mas Selamat Kastari, one of the region’s most wanted terrorists, was nabbed while he was sound asleep in a secluded kampung house in Skudai, Johor.
Instead of being on the run, the chubby fugitive prefer to take a nap, and was reported to be staying amongst his relatives in the kampung at Skudai, on the outskirt of Johor Bahru, Johor.
Incidentally, Skudai is near to the Water Works operated by Singapore PUB - this is a significant point to note.
Although born in Indonesia, he has family ties in all three countries - Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
It will soon be known how he made his own "escape from paradise".

Great observation on the Malaysian. A month after they arrested Mas and the Minister appeared on TV to say "Mas was caught while planning something."
And "the detail cannot be reviewed so as not to hinder investigation".
Aren't the investigation supposed to be complete for him to review Mas's capture?
If the investigation is not conclusive, why review the capture? Something fishy about them.
About this book "Escape from paradise", I have not read it but it has been circulating for a while. How true is it's content?

well as u can see, Singapore govt announced the news even before Malaysia. Since we have announced it, so they have to come out to meet the press too. U see their reluctance?

If the Malaysian investigation is not conclusive and the Sg govt go ahead with the annoucement. What conclusive can we draw? poor inter- govt coordination?

well it seems that the govt is eager to claim the credit. I mean since Msia are the captors, shouldn't the announcement be left to them for graciousness's sake? haha.
Even when our news first came out, the headlines read as "MSK has reportedly been arrested". One can sense the eagerness there.

I have a feeling that something is fishy somewhere. We wait and see.

For those who are trying to piece together information from here and there, are you really sure by doing so you will get a better picture? Let’s face it, the media is also a dirty place. They publish what they want their readers to see. The Malaysian, Indonesian and Singapore papers will paint a positive picture of their own government or security agencies so that the citizen would have a ‘feel good’ effect. They are all propagating their own agenda, so do not read too much into it.
If the media is a dirty place - it is due to the fact that the media in Singapore and Malaysia are owned by Government Linked Companies.
Can we trust the media that is no more then the mouth pieces of the respective Governments ?
If the media is dirty, should it not be left to us to piece together the bits and pieces of information and come to some sensible conclusions that the Government refuse to come clean and be more transparent about some issues of public interests and settle the looming question of "accountability" ?
The Government has always held the Citizens accountable for all actions - but will in turn refuse to be subjected to the same rules of accountability.
So much for their stand for Confucianism as a form for good governance.
