Hey parn, are you a Singaporean?
Even if it does not matter, can you don't mind telling me please?
Fire Cracker,
I am shocked by every piece of your posts. They are filled with racism, hatred of all kinds, even down to your own fellow citizens. I do suspect that you have a deeper grievance than the surface enmity you display to all.
Why not tell us that deeper reason? If I, an insignificant nobody, cant help you, I am sure there are others who can, as there are thousands of more capable and intelligent people here.
Could it be that:-
a. You just lost your job to a foreign worker/talent?
b. You just lost your gf?
c. You were scolded by your superiors?
d. You were scolded by your mom?
Millions of singaporeans face problems daily, made worse by the current crisis, but they had all courageously confronted and deal with the issues maturedly and not blame anyone else.
Although not everyone is as matured, there is no harm in seeking help, rather than to spew nauseating remarks and make yourself hated by all resulting in events careening down a steeper slope in life.
What's your root problem? a, b, c, or d?
Yeah.
I hate foreigners but please please nothing to do with our local races please!
i don't mind FT.
but
singaporean have to get thir balls or breast together
just today i read a news. on lorries drivers
singaporean paid the same but refuse to do OT. but want to get paid more
FT, do all the shit. won't even want a pay increment just hope that he can keep the job
Yah quite true.
I dunno even if New Yorkers are even more hardworking than us.

To be fair, you must understand both sides of the issues.
No one, absolutely no one, would reject OT or additional money, more so in these times. Anyone who does are rumours spread by disgusting cheating bosses.
If you move around industries, you will realize some of the horror tales of how bosses bully their workers by dangling the FW threat, to ensure our citizens take on lower pay or pay that cannot even afford meals and transportation, let alone our mortgage payments.
On the other side, there are bosses who are facing direct competition from other companies who can perform contracts at cheaper costs, ( often using cheaper foriegn labour or direct competition from foriegn nations with cheaper labour and infrastructure costs - which is worse).
So what can they do, except to follow the trend - to hell with Singaporeans or FW, its the bottomline that counts in the race for survival.
So, who is to be blamed?
I do believe the answer may just lie in the balancing of our infrastructure costs - transportation, housing, food, utilities, which if can be lowered for citizens but increased for foriegners, would make our productive citizens take on the foriegn invaders on equal footing.
But i could be wrong on this, for there are better minds than mine working on better solutions as I write.

nope.
u know a bangala was paid 1.8k just to drive?

Do you also know that the past salary of a delivery man/driver used to be $1.6k per month, but lately, because many singaporeans were unemployed and caused the vacancies to be filled within hours of news ad,. the salary peg is now only $1.3K?
Go out and make friends with people of all kinds, then you will be able to see a true and updated picture of what is happening.
If the bangla is paid 1.8k, then he is one lucky bangla, who applied earlier.
PS: If you analyzed the current situation, you will then be able to see that cheating bosses are taking advantage of the situation now by lowering their hiring costs and profiting more.
- if they can pay 1.8k for a bangla then, why pay 1.3k now for a citizen? More so when there are still plenty of unfinished contract work in Singapore, as well as govt contracts, and lowered costs of imported goods/shipping but goods bought by citizens are still where they are today as of yesterday?
There are still some ethical bosses around, but they are getting fewer by the day. Honour, obligations to society is dying out. If we dont stop it now, we will revert to barbarism and law of the jungle soon.
So, for some, dont just blame the limited govt bureaucracy. The cheating bosses are more than happy that the govt which many believe should not interfere in private enterprise, is being made scapegoats.
Have i opened your eyes?
It's pretty clear there's a lot of hate going on in this thread, between each-other but especially towards the FT. I look at some of the FT, most are nice people, came here with real hope for their own futures and their family. Should we be hating on them? It seems the problem lies in the FT policy: too many foreigners have been allowed in lately without enough consideration given to the impact on us and society.
Has this issue been raised with the govt? Has there ever been a real debate or explanation given for the current policy? Has the policy of allowing so many FT in even been announced? If not, then there's our problem.
Apologies if I missed stories about this but I stopped reading the local media. No great value in it.

Your eyes were opened.
You became aware that state media is nothing but PAP regime propaganda.
You began to despise it.
Now you stopped exposing yourself to it.
It is an inevitable process.

It's a very common thing for local people put blames on foreigners and new immigrants when the country is in a economy down term...
Singaporeans lose their jobs, or getting more difficult in finding good jobs, I can totally understand that, but it doesn't mean that Singaporeans should hate FT...
If Singaporeans still cannot see the contributions of FT to this country, they can suggest the gov to let all the FT on leave for a week... let Singaporeans to taste the days without FT...
Hatred cannot overcome cultural confilcts... I really hope Singaporeans can understand that...

I don't think so, during 1997 asian financial crisis, people did not blame foreigners.

You mean finally no foreigners in Singapore?
Many would welcome that.
Now the entire island is flooded from north to south, east to west with foreigners.
It is a country for foreigners like you.
What is Singapore?
A place for foreigners?
What is a Singaporean?
Someone who has to share his country with foreigners?

It's a common thinking, which it may not happend everytime, ok? but for people like you, it may happend everyday...

No. I was saying if 1/4 of the population in this country not working for a week...
Many would welcome that.

Singapore is a Republic country if I am not wrong. It does have its laws and policies for foreigners to work and live in this country.
Singaprean is Singapore citizen in general.
First, Singaporeans are not really share their countries to others, foreigners are not getting things in this country for free. Most of them have to work harder than Singaporeans and sometimes getting less pay.
Welcome to the world of capitalism, whatever things are more competitive will win the market... I am not saying Singaporeans are not as good as foreigners, and you have to understand that actually quite a few Singaporeans are in other countries and doing the same things as foreigners here in this country...
sgN00b, where are you from?
You like your home country to be flooded with foreigners?
One critical point many failed to realize is the reason why there are foreign workers and talents here in the first place.
It's not because we don't have enough population figures to justify a nation status. Even Polynesian island states survived with their meagre pop. and coconut economies.
The lesser the people, the lesser strain on the financial ministry to provide for all.
It's not because we simply open our doors to anyone who wish to work here in order to create a vibrant state.
It's simply because our society needs to uplift the lives of our fellow citizens, to be educated and take on jobs that justifies their ambitions and career paths. Positions at the top are few but low salaried jobs are plenty at the bottom. Singaporeans aspire for more, and rightly justifiably so, for they had proven themselves capable through education and productivity at work.
Thus, it is not justifiable for our citizens to remain in low paid salaried jobs. But the competition is keen in our neighbourhood. Thus, the door opened for the foreigners to fill such jobs.
For every 5 FWs, 1 fellow citizen gets a higher paid position in the same company enticed to set up shop here. For every 1 senior FT, 5 fellow citizens get an executive professional pay job. This may not be the exact ratio, but the principle remains.
Therefore, before one complains about 'flood of FW', 'open the floodgates', 'foriegn invasion' and whatnots, do stop to think about the benefits it brings.
If it would mean we have to squeeze on weekends with them, on buses, trains, roads or HDBs, etc, it would be worth it, for it would mean one more fellow citizen gets to keep his/her job and feed their families.
It is easy to talk of solutions to the problems, stirred by opposition politicians and the dissatisfied, but they are all talk. We, the common people will have to face the reality daily and take the most pragmatic approach.
Ask oneself first before complaining - who amongst us own this country individually and not as a society which comes with obligations to each other?

I am from where is not important to this issue...
Nobody likes the idea about getting foreingers into their countries at the first place, but for good and highly educated populations, they should know how to overcome the feelings, and face the truth about if there is no foreinger's contributions, there will no success of many things in the country. Singapore is one of the typical cases.
You like it or not, you cannot deny foreingers contributions to the success of your country. And dont build hatred between each other, at the end of day, nobody would win anything out of hatred.
I am from where is not important to this issue...
Why so shy?
Just tell me where are you from.
I am from Singapore, Jurong.

SgNoob, don't have to be baited, least of all from old Uncle Chia. Make your stand and walk away. As long as you don't support his mad views, he will find fault and then twist a post out of topic. But if you support his views, he wouldnt mind if you were nutcase Kim 'Dear Leader' himself from North korea!

So where is the source supporting your claims?
For every 5 foreign workers in Singapore, 1 Singaporean worker will be paid higher.
For each "senior" foreign worker, 5 Singaporean workers will get an executive job position.

no need to switch to another nick, you are who you are. Why don't you just chill out, analyze critically what is your own fault and then remedy it so that you can be a better person and employee to your organisation, instead of abusing and blaming everyone else for your own shortcommings?
You want to make a point, just do it. Don't be wishy washy. You are not putting forward convincing arguements to support your stance. My questions again: Has the average Singaporean's quality of life increased with the FT policy? How would the FT policy benefit ME or MY CHILDREN?
And don't accuse me of being a clone just because you can't win an arguement with me. I am not a clone and this is my 3rd post ever in sgforums.
And I am doing very well in my career now, thank for your advice. My heart, however, aches for the thousands of countrymen who have to attend reservist annually to protect the foreigners here to take away our jobs.

If you are as you claimed 'doing well in your career' would mean you are matured and capable, and yet you need me to explain again and again why FT policy would suit your and your progeny? Are you for real?
How noble of you to 'ache' for the thousands of countrymen who have to attend reservist annually to protect the foreigners here.
Just a correction, noble one. You attendence for reservists is to protect your family, relatives and friends just as similar for every citizen.
The noble institution of SAF WILLL NOT BE HELD AS HOSTAGE TO your perceived hatred of FT/FW or the use of inflaming others for your selfish interest to slack in the face of economic competition.

I see you have failed again to answer my questions. And now, you have even expressed doubts on *gasp!* my maturity! It's ok, you didn't hurt my feelings. Had I hurt yours?
And thanks for calling me noble, though I suspect it might be secondary schoolboy sarcasm. Let you in on a secret: I'm not. I'm selfish as the man next to me because this is my country where my forefathers have built, where I am contributing to, and probably my children will too. Why should I share any of my exclusive citizen rights with VISITORS?
Hey, don't bother anymore with answering my questions or replying to my posts. I believe readers here already got their own answers about Singapore's FT policy.
Have a nice week ahead.

Hehehehe... what kinda rubbish is this ?
For every 5 FW.. 5 fellow citizens are OUT OF JOB.
For every 1 senior FT.. 50 FW are invited to take more job from fellow citizens.
FWs are no longer a supplement .. they have become our REPLACEMENTS.
