Clearly, if there were that many North Koreans seeking political asylum, it would go to suggest you cannot separate a country from the party in dictatorships. It hardly is "another case altogether"!
If you can't conclude how many North Koreans seek political asylum, how on earth do you know they unstintingly love North Korea? Are you talking sense?
Uncle, u should know better what i am talk about, just that old age gives you the stubborn mentality in you. As usual, old people like my Dad and grandma dun admit they are wrong when they make a mistake, but it is ok with us, we respect it.
Love for Country is not about love for a government ruling it, it's more higher than that...it is a sense of belonging that will never change. When went to Taiwan to stay for months or weeks, I think of Singapore, my homeland, but never the govt.
The intelligent person makes a home within oneself - he/she never gets identified with nation, race, religion - he is so free of these conditionings - where ever he/she sets foot - its just a caravan journey!
If one were to look at politicians - the mantra is always - do this, be that for your country - utter crap!
They need to keep their jobs n its a very subtle way of preying and deluding the populace.

Just as your delusion is fundamentally not about your mind acting irrationally? No wonder your nonsensical posts flooding this place...
Is it any wonder therefore why the misguided angel is beset with such a stubborn mindset?

Good to see you're enlightened and understand the modus operandi governing the way this regime functions. Do enlighten some misguided souls here though...

The intelligent and rational realises his roots and knows he wasn't born intelligent. It was a civilised society that enable him to become intelligent and offered him his birthright of citizenship, an unwritten free participation within his society which offered him the opportunity to be who he is today, and a debt of honour, to be repaid.
Who is the government but representatives of the people through an election? Who are telling you to be that or do this for your country, none other than the people, to foster greater societal cohesiveness and unity? Such are crap to you?
Think, ponder and rationalise deeply, on who you really are - a self centred individual or a rational active participant of our evolving society.

Thanks for your compliment. Some people are misguided whereas some just go on bootlicking. Well, you know who they are.

Humans are afterall territory protectism creature, as graceful as we wanted to be, I cannot blame singaporeans for discriminating and dislike for foreigners here, in fact, we Singaporeans are more tolerable then most country due to our multi racial adaptation.
It is the same if we work in another country, perhap you get more discrimination than them, especially so in country with a majority of homogenous citizens and few minorities.
As far as i observed working in pubs, there are two types of foreigners perception, in term of singapore, one group understand that because their country is poor or poorly governed with no job or low pay job, they come here to search for better pasture and opportunity, the other are kind of booasting that their country is better than here, everytime compare ours and theirs, get his own fellow workers to join him in condemning Singapore, but still come here to work.
I found that the former is more truth and understanding that they are here to work and we welcome them to help our economy, whereas the latter are just jealous, troublemakers and got lots of dissatisfaction but do not want to admit it. For these type of people, yes you can discriminate them all the way.
Not really. It's only because the government welcomes them and our laws are extremely strict.
Actually in many singaporeans' minds, we are not so tolerant towards the foreigners. I think we are still far behind US and Canada's standards, as I had mentioned in another topic, if we do a comparison in tolerance towards foreign races. The people there seem to be more open-minded and have strong support for human rights.
Well, u are entitled to your views just as I am. Its just that i have woken up to the reality that politics is crap!
i yesterday watch news got cc ppl go houses to houses selling flags. how much are they selling each flag?
The more one identifies with race, color, relgion ... the more one is conditioned to bleat away like sheep. It works for politicians!
The wise one participates (partakes of) in all that one comes across but never gets lost in them or becomes them.
One who is centred on the self is abundant, overflowing he/she is free of all these conditionings. My meaning of self-centredness is one who is as self-fulfilled person in many aspects. He no longer is a burden.
Selfishness is not hoarding, living for oneself - selfishness is dependency, being a burden on ..... that is the meaning that i espouse here.
ZZZZzzzzz....

Never fly flag does not mean dun love SIngapore la. I only just put up the Singapore flag because last few weeks got no time and also forgot that must put. However, I do love my country - it constitutes part of what I am and also those whom I love. Although Singapore has changed since my childhood days, and I personally find it really hard to reconcile some of these changes within myself, I still belief deep down that it is still home. I'm sure many of you feel the same way as I do. As such, we should not allow any disgruntlement with the current state of our country to develop into an entrenched cynicism or disregard for our country or the celebration of our nation's birthday. Instead, we should celebrate the occassion in our own little ways and through our little endeavors or common adherence, seek to steer our country upon the path we belief to be the best for it.
Quincey,
Sorry lor, don't mean to rain on your forthcoming jaunt (parade) to 'celebrate' but if u 'unlearn' the deluge and the barrage of info that is telecast, transmitted and enumerated by the govt - one can only opine and wonder why Singaporeans have to put up with this regressive , elitist and holier-than-thou stance (n policies) when it benefits only certain sector(s) and so-called foreigners who are supposedly talented lah. I can add on but when one scrutinizes the rest would appear crystal clear.
One who is intelligent (not to be confused with intellect), perspicacious and can read between the lines can see through the bluff.
Of course, you are free to subscribe to what you have been conditioned to and stay maudlin!
The only crystal clarity one can ever seek or see is perfection. But only an illusion, more so in the political realm, where even a dullard can reconcile with facts on the often harsh but necessary measures undertaken to ensure a nation's survivability, of not only the rich or the middle class, but our very own equals - the poor, in order that none gets left behind.
By all means, with equal measure, go live in the illusive and utopian non-existant Plato republic of your mind, for each needs his/her own sense of solace and comfort, even if it means living a lie, but for the rest of us who have to face up to harsh realities of life, the choice for realistic national administrators, unfortunately is equally crystal clear.
Delighted in the parody but would appreciate a more articulate one.

In the first place, the world was never mend to be fair, fairness and equality is only in the realm words and illusion. Just by asking oneself that why you are here, why you existed, why at this place and at this moment is already questions of unfairness.
Behold, when the day the world is equal and fair, there will be no humans around.
