Secondly, war also help them to use up old stock in their armoury. Thirdly, a chance for their generals and soldiers to train in live action.
And of course all these will be done in foreign land, never their own soil.
Financial insitution like IMF and also the UN are puppet of US, Dr mahatir is smart enuf not to venture in IMF, he rather freeze all foreign asset and re consolidate, nevermind if the country goes bankrupt, because IMF come with deals that is very much on the advantages of IMF (US) rather than the country borrowing, once you borrow, you are hook on their policy and have the abide their rule, that is how they controlled Indonesia and also indo china trade.
