That is because it's in some remote part of Singapore.
If you work in the East or Central area, surely you don't expect folks to lose 2 hours in transportation time getting to and from work.
Some folks wait 2 years just to be given a chance to buy some place where they have to waste 2 hours transportation journey.
If the opportunity cost is $5 an hour for 2 hours, 5 days a week, for a family of 4, in 10 years time, the total opportunity cost would be $102,857.
No wonder most who got the ballot rejected the opportunity to buy.

If you used HDB's rebate system, ended up in financial diffculties, sell your flat.
You will have problems buying your next flat and have to resort to buying in the resale market.
HDB should have made the flats not tradeable, resale is always to HDB and keep the price affordable under $100k to $150k.
A HDB is for putting a roof over your head, it's not for investment purposes, so HDB should adopt a policy that does not promote resale which drives up prices.

Even if people grab the new HDB flats, its still very expensive leh....Many have to pay 30y for it....no more freedom!!! All into debts....Dunno is we own the house or the house own us! Hahaha!

Consider not having a $400k inflated property, instead if your property is worth only $150k, you still have another $250k in your pockets for retirement.

In future, new features will be added in the new hdb flats like fends built around the area with security guards and access cards. It make it like a condo feel. -

Actually, my POV is we are the tenants and HDB or Banks are the Owners of ' our ' flat...... Same go with cars in $inkapore, we are only the hirer, not the owner......

Another way is to work hard many years save enuff $ then go retire in Australia. Cheap bungalow housing 10x cheaper than SG prices.
