Your failure in Singapore is of your own making. You are resentful that you and the assistant engineers/engineers do the same work, but drawing different pay. You consider yourself at par with the engineers. You are part of the team that produces $0.5billion/year, not the one. You walk about pretending to do work. You lose out to diploma/degree holders both local and foreign because of your attitude.
Your criticism of Singapore stem from the fact that private enterprise does not reward laziness. The fact that HDB car parks are full, this should dawn on you that many ordinary Singaporean have attain some degree of success, by just working honestly. But not you. You do not blame yourself but the government. It is the American MNC that sucked your blood not the government. Anyway the onus is on you to seek a better renumeration or employment.
Now you are at a place with minimum standard for work... er <ahem> werk. This suits you. Your sense of inadequacy is still in you,(a teckie who is not quite an engineer) and you resent Singapore for that.
You couldn't make it in Singapore, the IPPT excuse is truly a silly one.
You have no basis to critise Singapore, and you were not starving here.
Well continue to draw full pay, while you knock off early from work. And go to the beach, that deadline can be move to next week.
