Just imagined if you're receiving a generous sum of salary package from the company that you are working for and have been working for a long time ... DO YOU WISH THE COMPANY TO TERMINATE YOUR EMPLOYMENT USING THE EXCUSE OF RETIREMENT??

reason no 1: it you adept this mindset, good luck, don't ever post or complain when these new citizens snatch your job when theres little for everyone.
reason no 2: when i was working temp, i came across a china PR, likely a new citizen now, guess what she said? " when i hit 70-80, i go migrate to canada with my kids in chinese. that really was etched in my mind. along with it a burning question :"how did the govt allow this kind of people to get the privilages so easily? work for 5 yrs only somemore.
reason no 3: no retirement age , in short is 2 sides of the coin, you can think of it to prevent company to use it as an excuse from retiring early, however it can also be precived that on a common basis that you and me as singaporean have CPF, it means that we would have a longer and harder time to touch even half our CPF now.
if you believe that the govt never forced us, well i can say you are WRONG and wake up!, the CPF system itself already shown that it is likewise, in the past, where those people should be 70 to 90 by now, your CPF is how you use it, NOW it is like the remainder goes to insurance and stays stagnent there for an extension of 10 years, given if you are retiring early, you have to wait for a real Looooong time before you can take that money out.
the other disadvantage is for no retirement age is that as spoken , the young cannot progress when the old is unwilling to leave, in times where changes is frequent or needed, it would result in a clogging . when that happens, pay becomes in a way stagnet by positions and less people would want to raise families as job stability becomes an issue. the portion to make this chronic and worst is pumping in FT for replacements.

The only reason that you have this fear of losing out to new citizens is because you and I and everyone else KNOW THIS TRUTH that Singaporeans are simply not united together as compared to citizens in other countries. The young cannot progress if the old doesn't move on?? I really don't know what kind of stupid world you have been exposed to. The young will still have jobs even if the old remains in the workforce. This means that the younger workers in the workforce will be able to learn and gain better skills in the workforce under the apprenticeship of the older workers. Then again, this brings up one of your common dilemma isn't it? Did you think that the older Singaporean workers will be unwilling to show the younger workers the ropes? Just how many older workers have you worked with and how many older workers have you actually spoken with and formed a genuine bond at your workplace?
