i believe its an international effort although most of the passengers were china nationals. Naturally since the plane is believed to have crashed near Australia they will be spearheading the search. New Zealand is helping out as well.
Its called doing the right thing. They have my respect with regards to this tragedy.

I believe it is the pilot who suicided because if it was a crash they could have send out a distress signal..Every country have my respect except for malaysia who is not doing anything...the fake passport incident was handled very poorly.I would love to see the reputation of malaysia airlines..
Well it is sad the pilot decided to suicide (if it is proven true)....it is also very selfish to drag other innocent passengers as well.
I don't think (personal opinion) Malaysia stood by and did nothing. However the way they handled the situation could be alot better. I felt they were trying to be open with the victims about the situation but failed.
Things like "the plane crashed in the ocean but no wreckage was found yet...is not being very sensitive. Information was also either miscommunicated or mismanaged. This however points more to the general effectiveness to handle the situation.
As for Malaysia Airlines reputation...well... it probably has seen better days.

I said Malaysia did nothing because 1)They took such a long time to send out army to search for the plane whereas neighbouring countries are the ones doing so 2)They were insincere and even sent the China relatives to India? They kept on giving misleading information(although partly not their fault).. The pilot was a supporter on Anwar, however what would he have achieved by suiciding? Trying to seek justice? The pilot flew in such a long opposite direction from Beijing, this proves that a crash is not possible, hijacking is not really the case because no demands are made... Whats the point of hijacking but not requesting anything, doesn't that defeats their purpose? I therefore believe that the pilot was the prime suspect...
Thanks ArJoe.
I understand your point and it probably is because of the pilot. But to blame Malaysia as a whole for one person's actions is abit extreme. Still I suppose its normal to be angry with Malaysia.
The points you made about Malaysia taking such a long time...well.. I'm not sure how to put it nicely but it comes down to job effectiveness to handle situations. (e.g. of job effectiveness....how fast it takes to get through Changi Airport vs theirs)
